I feel so honored that you all have taken the time to work on my image. I do agree that it appears flat. You inspired me to also do some more work on it. I was worried about the trees on the distant bank blowing out so had kept the toning down. So I divided the image into three. On the lower third I found the black point and the added some contrast. On the water I found the white point and basically left the top alone. I also looked at cropping to a vertical by removing some of the right hand side. Was not bad, but that's another picture. let's see what you think of the forth version. |

Palli,
There certainly is something enchanting about a dog running on a beach. Such freedom! I like the simplicity. Gary's version not only adds a back point, but brings out more details and textures. A good capture.

Gary,
Firstly, congratulations on your APSA. Well done!
When I had my first glance at your photograph, I had the impression of a fairy tail scene with lights over a carriage. Looking closer of course it was clear that it was a modern capture and it was in fact a tree over the carriage. The noise helps to retain my original feeling. The brightness looks very right here. I do agree with Jack that some cropping could be done. I would remove the tree people on the left.... makers choice. |

Jack,
Even though this is a simple scene, there is such drama created by the clouds. I do agree with Gary that finding the blacks makes for even more tension. well seen, a true example of keeping it simple. |

Craig,
This is a lovely scene. I really am enjoying all the textures achieved. It all holds together with the darker base and dark sky. I'm not sure I see the value of retaining the blues in the upper clouds and sky. The freshness and cold is so well portrayed here.
