You're right. They are the tallest birds in North America and have a VERY loud high-pitched cry. |

Thanks for your comments. I assume you're talking about photographing endangered species in general rather than this specific image, since it was in a natural environment and they were just doing their crane thing.

Great action shot that depicts their behavior and environment. Unlike you November image, I'm assuming you didn't add or subtract birds or bees, which would disqualify the image in any nature photo contest. Excellent exposure and lighting. Perfectly sharp. I also like how you shot from ground level. Hope you didn't get stung! These things look vicious. |

Catching sunlight through the leaves always creates an exposure problem. Kathy has done a nice job of toning them down. Great capture and gorgeous bird. |

Agree about the lighting being less than optimal. |

Looks like it's posing for the camera! Nice shot and perfectly sharp. Just curious, it looks like some good light is on it, compared to the darker background. Did you use any flash? Not a problem, but just wondering. |

Thank you for the interesting information about the location and ducks. This is a great capture! I love how they appear to be marching in step. Perfect focus and tack sharp. I do find the extremely blurred background that almost cuts the image in half a bit distracting. You have the bottom half of the ducks on tack-sharp rocks, then the top half are against a blurred background. I would also remove the bright white spots that appeared in the blurred background. |

Yes! The fog was so thick that I didn't see it in the field. Only after I processed the image, lifted the haze, did it reveal itself. |

Very nice still life. Love the balance between the size, shape and colors of the bottles. The cobwebs (?) behind the glass adds some visual interest. Nothing you could do about it, but the shelf looks like it's off the rack of Home Depot. Wish it had been an old board. But again, we shoot what's there. |

Looks like a place that I would not want to be shipwrecked on! Very bleak, as Theresa said, but I believe that's what you intended. Theresa, always the eagle eye, spotted the halo along the bottom of the trunk. That's easily fixed. I'm always a little uneasy visually with the subject, such as the tree, standing straight up in the middle of the image. My preference would be to frame it so that the tree stands more to the left or right. I believe this would offer the tree as a balance against the open sands. |

Nice composition. I agree about the little branch protruding from the right. You could clone it out, or crop like Theresa did. |

The alligator was low in the water to the left. It wasn't in this image, plus you could barely see it anyway. Just the ridge of its back. |

I think the bright golden colors on Half Dome overwhelm the image. The bottom part lacks any visual appeal, to me, and looks a little junky. So, why not focus on the outstanding feature -- Half Dome. I've come up with a different option by cropping onto the mountain, adding some more contrast and darkening a tad to bring out a little of the blue skies. Just a thought. |

Nicely done and an admirable job of doing the processing. I did compare the processed version with the original version and couldn't see much, if any difference. The original looked good to me. Just wondering about the yellow electrical cord on the right side. That seems a bit of a distraction that could easily be removed. |

Gorgeous sunset and great timing to get the sun setting behind the bridge. I like the idea of the woman in the foreground. However, she seems nearly lost in the shadows. I don't know if you can lighten those shadows. I also don't know if you were working with her or she just happened to be there. It might have been a nice shot to have her move to her left and be backlit by the sun. Just a thought. |
