I was pretty close. I did crop the image to remove some extraneous water and shoreline. That probably accounts for the size. I couldn't shoot at the full 300mm because the heron would have taken up the entire frame. I wanted to leave some space around it. |

I love the soft green colors and the beautiful reflection in the water. The head and beak were a little soft in focus. You shot at only 1/125. I suggest using a faster shutter speed next time. This might help create a sharper image, especially when these things are in motion, no matter how slowly they move. Otherwise, well done. |

What can I say but perfect detail. The eyes, the feathers, the legs, etc. are all tack sharp. I also like how you captured the nice curve in the neck. |

What a great find! Congratulations to you for coming upon such a pleasant sight. Sometimes you've got to work with what you've got before you. However, from a composition standpoint, the image seems cluttered. To me, it's hard to see exactly what's happening in the image without having to take a very close and careful look at it. I think better separation between the birds would certainly make this a more powerful and compelling image. However, I wasn't in your position and don't know the situation you were working in. Just saying for future reference. |

I admire the sharp focus you got. The composition is also great, especially the way you captured the egret at a pleasing angle. FYI, I was in Galveston a few months ago to watch the Tall Ships Festival. Tried to find a few good spots to capture some birds but was unable to get anything decent. The ships were great, though! |

I agree with Jerry about how you enhanced the image by transplanting the flowers into a new vase with a different background. I also agree that the image may be overall too hot, especially the whites around the edges of the flowers. Overall, a very attractive image. |

Love the composition. Personally, I prefer the color version. The colors of the cow provide some pop to the image and create an anchor for the eye. |

You've done a lot of night shots. To me, this is your best. The soft water and sea stacks make this absolutely stunning. A prize-winner in my opinion. |

A wonderful image. The composition is great and Michele's crop enhanced it even more. I notice that this was hand-held. In the future, if you happen to be hauling a tripod around with you (which I rarely do), consider using a slower shutter speed to give the water a sense of motion. |
