I agree with everyone about this being a great capture. I'll be the odd one out in saying that, to me, it lacks context. I kept looking at this and thinking that it's missing something. I believe it's the story-telling element that's lost by removing the background. I'd rather see some blurred background to place the rider in the arena to better place him in a rodeo event. Anyway, just my opinion and I admit it's different from others. |

Marti, you are correct. The sheep have stopped but the border collie is quickly moving around them to turn them to a different direction. I like the fact that the image captured the dog in motion and the sheep at a stop. |

Nice capture. We also live on the butterfly flyway in the Texas Hill Country, and know how hard it is to capture sharp images of them. You did a great job and obtained a nice sharp image. I agree with Joe about slightly darkening the background. Other than that, I can't think of a way to improve this one. |

I've seen the color range tool on Lightroom do great things to enhance the fall colors on images like this. You might try it. Also, from a composition standpoint, I feel your image lacks a clear focal point to anchor the image. For example, the center seems like a big open space. |

Good suggestion about the crop. Thanks. |

This is a perfect composition -- the river leads to the bridge which then pulls the eye further into the image. For my taste, it appears too bright and overly, unnaturally yellow. However, this may be the look you're trying to achieve. |

This looks like a painting, it's so nice. Perfectly sharp throughout, so you achieved your goal of getting good depth-of-field focus. I think you could crop more out of the sky. I think the focus should be on the egrets, so cropping a little off the top would help bring more attention to them. This is one I'd frame! |

Lovely image, and an especially good job of recovering the original dark photo. My suggestion is to add more contrast to the sky and clouds -- they seem rather flat to me. I also think that the sunset might be blown out. Maybe try to darken that a bit. Otherwise, really great shot. |

Thanks for your comments and welcome to our group! I used a Sigma lens on my Canon 7D. It was shot at ISO 125, f6.3 at 1/1600 second. I wish the guy was a bit sharper. However, I was tracking the sheep to get them sharp and he just kinda showed up! I also used a monopod to help stabilize the lens. Although the lens isn't greatly heavy, having something to balance it on is helpful. Shooting these dog trials is like any sporting event -- things move quickly. A tripod isn't much help because you can't easily follow the action. And the dogs and sheep run much faster than most players in sporting events. |

Beautiful image! The light reflection of the sky in the lower right and the open sky in the upper right are a little distracting. Easy fix: I'd crop off about a quarter of the right side. This would remove the distractions and focus more attention on the lovely tree line in the foreground. Cropping off the right would remove portions of the image that don't add anything. |

I agree with Tom -- this is a beautiful image. Wish I could visit the village, too. Great work. |

Gorgeous capture! The slow shutter did a perfect job of emphasizing the motion of the waterfall. And how about that rainbow! Wow. That took this image from an "ordinary" pretty photo of a waterfall to something truly unique and special. The only suggestion I'd make is to remove or darken those two little reddish dots in the rock in the lower left corner. For some reason, they drew my eye away from the waterfall and rainbow. |

Welcome to our group! And what a striking image. Lots of things to love about it -- the slow shutter speed softened the waves under the driftwood, the sun peeking through the branches and then reflected in the surf. The soft colors are beautiful and compliment each other. Can't think of a way to improve this shot. |
