Great suggestions. I did try various viewpoints but this was the best. I also had to watch for rattlesnakes under the truck! They like to hide around this junk. |

I like the vertical, centered format. For this image and composition, it's perfect. |

I agree with the other comments, especially about leaving the fenceposts. It helps set the scene and provide a story element about the truck being abandoned at some farm or ranch. Our ranch is littered with old cars and trucks. It seems they're driven until they don't work anymore, then towed out of the way, just like this truck. |

Great capture of a wonderful old barn. I'm late to the comments but like others I did notice the brown tinge around the roof. Looks like the edits that Jerry made fixed the problem. |

Great work. My comment reflects what Marti noticed. It looks like a roof is protruding in mid-air off to the left of the chimney. I'm sure you can fix that. |

If you reply to a comment, you always have the option of making the suggested changes and reposting. See the note under the reply section. Just choose the file or image and it will be reposted along with your comment. Anyway, this is a way you can easily test how the suggested edits work. I assume you can also post variations or different perspectives of the same scene. At least I've seen this done on other groups. |

Topaz has several special programs, such as sharpening and noise reduction. I don't know how it compares with Nik. You can visit Topaz' website and see a demo. You can also download a free trial before deciding whether to purchase it. I think the sharpening function costs about $80. |

By the way, most cameras get dust on their sensors. In Lightroom, you can darken your image and the dust spots magically appear. Then you can easily remove them with the spot removal tool. |

Lightroom is a great processing system. It's much easier to use than Photoshop. Unless you're a professional trying to do magazine quality images that need a lot of touching up, doing National Geographic type production, etc., with practice you can do in Lightroom nearly everything PS can do. I have PS but rarely use it. I'm a 99% Lightroom person, though I'm going to get Topaz so I can access its great sharpening capabilities. |

I think Theresa did exactly what I was trying to explain. Great focal point and lines. Nice abstract. |

Yes, I'm looking at getting Topaz in the next few days. I agree that it would help sharpen this thing. |

This setting has a great potential. However, I think you've missed setting up a focal point to attract our attention. I see a great expanse of ice, a few branches sticking up at the bottom and a rather dark horizon. In other words, I don't know what the subject of your image is. The pond is nice but appears as little more than a sheet of ice. I suggest you need something more to hook us. Using the pond in the foreground, I looked around and saw a steeple that you could have made more a center of attention, an island, perhaps some interesting lines in the tree branches. |

I like the S-curve leading into the frame. I only wish it were a bit longer. Seems more like a stub than a trail. The branches that Paul refers to aren't a real problem for me. I don't know how you could remove them without the plants looking like they'd been hit by a shrub trimmer. I also like the open sky that features the wispy clouds. The colors are wonderful. I love the array of yellows, browns, blues and whites. |

I think this is a great image, just the way it is. Although you have a lot of sky and open space at the top, in this situation, I believe it works well. The muted colors and openness seem to balance the mountains and building at the bottom. Nice job. |

Hi Saurabh! Welcome to our group! We look forward to your comments as well as your own images. If New York at Dawn is any indication, we're in for a treat. This is a gorgeous cityscape. You captured it well. Nice balanced composition and perfectly sharp focus. The cloud cover provided some soft lighting that enabled the gray clouds to blend with the buildings and water. I encourage you to keep trying to capture that sun rise over the city. I think the colors and shadows would be spectacular. Great first image! Looking forward to seeing much more of your work. |
