I think the adjustments work just fine, especially noting Al's goal was to create an old-time feel. To me, this looks like an old postcard you'd find in some antique store. I also commend him on his ability to remove the people -- the Alamo is always crowded. |

What a lovely shot! I like the colors and reflections in the water. I do think you'd probably get a few points taken off in a competition by having the horizon across the middle of the frame and the ferry in the bull's eye. Maybe you could crop off slightly from the left without harming the sunset and a bit off the bottom to taken the horizon out of the middle. |

You're right about the focus. I had been shooting some late afternoon landscape scenes across the water, so my camera was not set on a fast shutter speed. The eagle suddenly arrived out of nowhere and swept across the water in seconds. In those instances, you only have a split-second to swing your camera up, snap a shot and hope for the best! No time to adjust shutter speed, etc. Thanks for your comments. I try to avoid the "butt shots" as well!!! |

This is a beautiful composition. I especially like how you got the river in the image and how it winds through the picture. It appears to have been taken mid-day, which I think accounts for the flat colors. You're definitely right that either sunrise or sunset is the best time to shoot the canyon. The colors and contrast are absolutely fabulous then. And plan to visit the North Rim. I think it's much prettier than the South Rim and not as crowded. The drive in is also beautiful. |

A beautiful, well-composed shot, plus extra-sharp focus. The only suggestion I have is to adjust your white balance. The image, and especially the old barn, seem to have an overly orange tint. |
