It was f18 without a tripod. I was about 50 yards away so a flash wouldn't have been effective. Plus, this was a vacation trip. I don't carry a flash on vacation to lighten the load and I rarely need one. Thanks for your comments! |

As a Hill Country resident, we are enjoying scenes like this right now. The recent rains have made the countryside explode in colors and bluebonnets. You did a very nice job of capturing one of these fields. I noticed that you removed the farm buildings on the right. Actually they don't bother me since they are part of the landscape around here. |

Maybe I'm missing something but your "original" looks just like your modified version. I looked at the original and didn't see anything that you might have removed. Anyway, perfect composition. I can see why this spot attracted you. Love the curve of the Snake River, the railroad track running alongside it, and to top it off, the train itself! This set up draws my eyes into your image and invites me to explore the countryside along the way and the bluffs and buttes beyond it. |

I see so many of the type of images that your original captured that I'm a bit jaded. In nearly all cases, the photographer tries to capture the horse or wagon or whatever but the background is cluttered with extraneous items that distract from the main focal point of the shot. Your processing solved this problem. You did a great job of removing the stuff surrounding the horses and consequently drew my attention directly to the horses' heads and their colorful gear. Very nice work. |

Interesting composition. I like how the tree and the shadows balance each other. Is it too dark? I also noticed that the curb where you removed the car is out of alignment. Nice job, however, of removing the extraneous items. |

Great shot, Jerry. Think it works much better in black and white. Also, perfect post-processing to blur the background and crop out distractions. The composition is excellent too -- the father's and son's arms holding their drinks balance each other. |

I agree with this: This scene is "quite spectacular." You did a great job of capturing the stars in the sky as well as the geyser. Love the 30 second shutter speed. That offered enough light in the foreground while also presenting a wonderfully velvety look. |

Definitely a beautiful fall scene. I agree that the road is too short to really draw us into the scene. I also suggest you crop more of the sky, especially all the vacant blue at the top. The sky seems so "heavy" that it tends to distract from the pretty landscape at the bottom. Cropping is a minor adjustment to make on an otherwise gorgeous scene. |

Beautiful capture of the Grand Canyon. Love how sharply focused the entire image is. Nice job! |

I've looked several times at this and the difficulty I have with it is determining what your subject is. While you have done everything technically well, to me it looks like a lot of snow-covered mountains without anything to distinguish them. I did notice that you have a ski lift running to the ski runs. If you had been able, you might have gotten a stronger shot by moving closer to the ski lift, using the lines of the lift to draw us in and up to the ski run. This might have given the image more of a strong focal point. |

You captured a lovely scene of a typical Savannah street. The street draws you into the image, while the moss hanging from the trees creates a wonderful atmosphere. In addition to scenes like this, what I'd look for in Savannah are details -- doors, doorknobs, windows, planter boxes, etc. etc. I think looking for unusual details helps sets anyone's photos apart from the rest. |

First, I'm impressed that you're awake at 1:30 a.m.! And second, this is a lovely image, especially the dark silhouettes of the trees against the moonlight. I wouldn't change a thing. Nice work. |
