Great title for this image! Your processing did an excellent job of adding contrast, sharpness and bringing out the white whites and black blacks. Nice abstract. |

I like the capture of this street scene, although I think it would tell a better story if it was more apparent what the wares are. I do like the composition and the apparent interaction between the young women. You are much better at cloning than I am, but the rough edges along the red-headed girl's backpack and hair make it appear that items have been "Photoshopped" out. I also don't think the tiles line up as they should. Again, since my skill level isn't at yours I do admire your efforts here. |

A pretty winter scene. In comparing the revised vs original version, it's obvious that your adjustments really made a significant difference. The revised version brings out the color and contrast much better. Upon close examination, the red tree appears fuzzy. I like your composition. As an experiment, I also tried a version where I cropped in much closer to the red tree. To me, this gives you a couple of different looks from the same vantage point. |

Nice composition with the road leading into the rocks. Great depth of field that maintains a sharp focus from the front to the back. I wonder if you could add more contrast to the image and perhaps adjust the red rocks to make them pop more. While technically a perfect shot, I feel the colors are rather drab. The good thing is that I believe you can make a few adjustments to recover some of the color contrast to make this an eye-catcher. |

I can't speak for your camera club on its scoring, but the main thing is that YOU "love the shot!" That's what's most important. I've had individuals look at my photos and half think they're great and half think they're terrible. Go figure. So much is a matter of personal taste. I value the input from rather informal groups like ours here but also am able to evaluate the critiques against my own preferences. Critiques are just opinions. In your image, I believe you captured a spectacular sunset, which you composed nicely. Maybe your camera club didn't feel like there was enough contrast, colors or drama. Who knows. For our dialogue group, the camera club, etc. you've got to have a take it or leave it attitude. Listen to the critiques. If you think there's a valid point, listen. If you disagree with the point, forget it. Just enjoy photography and go with what you like. Trust your own instincts. If Ansel Adams had listened to his critics and not trusted his own work, he would have boxed up his camera long before he became famous. |

A beautiful fall scene. I especially like the golden colors along the shore and their reflection in the water. The person in the red boat gives this an extra pop. The highlights in the trees seem slightly too bright. Just lower that a tad. I do suggest cropping. The dark area in the upper left corner doesn't add anything to your image. I also think cropping would allow you to bring the boater into the photo more. Attached is my imperfect revision to give you a little better idea of what I'm suggesting. Great work, though! You've got a wonderful eye for scenery. |

You did a wonderful job on this shot. I don't know if you made other compositions from this point, but there are several additional shots you could take to provide you a nice variety. I love the ripples in the sand with the water glistening over it. Maybe a close up of that to provide an abstract point of view. Another shot would be to shoot from a much lower angle. And you've got some other possibilities of getting a closeup shot of the water and sand against a rock. Take a look at Art Wolfe's work of his photos along the Oregon and Washington coasts for more ideas. Again, you did a great job -- I'm just suggesting additional compositions for the future to add to your portfolio. |

A breathtaking sunrise, beautifully captured. Nice job in creating the panorama from 4 shots. I agree with you about removing the trees. They seem to add a messiness to an otherwise great photo. I also suggest slightly lightening the foreground to anchor the shot. Right now, it appears that the image is cut off toward the bottom. Just a slight lightening would help. Great job! |
