I think the lack of sharpness is due to a poor lens. Every time I use it, the subjects are slightly out of focus. As with this shot, I even mount it on a tripod. Maybe Santa will be nice to me and bring me something better!! |

A beautiful image, the type I'd expect to see in a prestigious travel publication. First, you've got a natural background with the mountains and lake. And then you have the ski lift that stretches over the scene that draws us into the image. And finally, it's all perfectly focused. Great job. |

Oh yes, it's real. Thanks for your comments. I'll try to make it pop more. |

I think you approached this shot in exactly the right way -- by allowing the landscape to provide proper perspective for the lava tube. If you had just shot the lava tube itself, it would have looked like a hole in the ground. I also agree with you that a wider lens might have worked better by providing more of a panorama rather than a vertical. |

Wow, seems Arches is the place to be. See Marla's image. Great work on your processing. Lots of effort went into the image and it sure shows. I wish I had the skills to do as much as you've done. A couple of points: I don't feel the image has a strong anchor or focal point, i.e. I don't know what I'm supposed to be looking at. The clouds are nice but they seem more like empty space to me. I do think you can work on making the butte on the left the main point and crop out much of the sky to give the photo a better place to anchor the eyes. For grins, I played around with a crop. Of course, this is your image and your point of view. I'm just tossing out a different option. |

This is a spectacular capture. Just goes to show that being at the right place at the right time is often half the battle. Love the way you caught the sun peeking through the rocks and then used a small f-stop to create the star-burst look. I did feel that your white balance was a bit off, giving the rocks and sand an almost pinkish tone. I also think you had a lot of uninteresting sky space at the top and left side. I've attached a quick adjustment I made to bring more attention to the star of your image -- the star burst -- and slightly warmed it up. Anyway, see what you think. |

I should say that the description in "About the Image" had a typo. It should say in the last sentence that "Although this ISN'T exactly a landscape type photo." Instead it says this is exactly a landscape photo, which obviously it isn't. |

An absolutely beautiful image! I especially love how the mauve colors of the daisies match the color of the clouds. And the yellow flowers give it a nice pop. Great job. |

You've achieved a beautiful composition. I especially like how the valley leads into the photo. The tree on the right also provides a nice frame. To me, the highlights on the snowy peaks on the upper mountain tops look blown out. Perhaps you could reduce the highlights on those. I don't know whether you tried a dehazing filter or not but that might work to bring out more details on the mountains. Nevertheless, I think you've captured a wonderful, serene image.
