Thanks for the comments, Jerry. I was able to lighten the eyes using the adjustment brush in Lightroom. I didn't do anything to the hairs. They were in real life just as they appear in the image. |

Gorgeous horses. I especially like the way you captured them trotting past the golden trees in the background. The fact that they are moving gives the image much more punch than if they were just standing there. For future consideration, I suggest toning down the saturation, vibrance or highlights of the trees. To me, they appear so bright that their color almost overpowers and distracts from the lovely image of the horses. |

Great suggestions, Joe and Marti. I'll work on the eyes and clone out the dark distractions. I intend to enter this in one of our little ranch magazines. It has a photo contest every year. |

This is a spectacular photo! The change from a bland color image to black and white created a striking transformation by setting up a powerful contrast between the dark tones and the light tones. It also provided a wonderful geometric interplay between the pianist, the curving lines and dark wood of the piano and the black and white tiles on the floor. And shooting down -- what a perfect perspective! |

To me, this represents another outstanding example of all the creative things that can be done in post-processing. From an image standpoint, it seems rather static. However, I believe as an exercise in experimenting with a new technique that requires some expertise and patience (i.e. taking several hours to process), I consider this a great piece of photo design and work. |

A beautiful shot. I love the different bands of colors -- the yellows, the greens, the blues and the white tufts of clouds. This was also a perfect composition. The tips of the trees (we call them cemetery trees in Texas because that's what you see in cemeteries here)and the trunks of the trees create a triangle leading to the horizon where the copse on the ridge act as a period to the lines and provide a strong focal point.

Great action shot, especially the way you captured the bull and rider both in mid-air. Perfect job of cropping. I also like the black and white treatment which gives it that gritty, journalistic street-action look. This works especially well since there was so little color in the original shot. I did notice that the bull and back of the rider had a splotchy look in the black areas like something was dabbled there. Don't know what caused this but it's probably something that could be fixed. |

This is a beautiful shot. I think you did an outstanding job of post-processing to brighten the building and removing the distractions. The street light in the center illuminates the building's door and provides a strong focal point that anchors the image. I also like the starburst pattern on the left. This well-crafted photo would make a nice Christmas card in 2018. |

I agree with Nancie: this is a wonderful shot. It's a great composition. Can't think of a thing to improve it. |

Thanks for your comments, John. Let me just say that the lens I used was definitely a cheapie! It's my "walk-around" lens that is on my camera most of the time. I consistently get sharp images with it. |

This setting had the potential for chaos. You've got a stream, you've got fences, you've got a house and barn, you've got trees, you've got a wagon, you even have an old pot out front. Despite all that, I think you managed to create an amazingly pulled-together image. It all fits! What makes this works so well is that you established a clear focal point -- the rustic log cabin. From that, we can linger over all the different elements in the scene and imagine what life was like in the 1800s. |

You have captured a beautiful scene here -- the blue sky, the different bands of colors on the cliffs and the greens of the foliage at their base. I can see why this caught your eye. I don't see a lot of shadows, which leads me to think this was shot close to mid-day -- not the best time to capture a landscape, unfortunately, since it depicts the setting in a flat light. I think, if possible, a shot like this needs some good shadows to give it more depth and contrast. I also have trouble identifying what the main focal point is -- these are pretty cliffs but they seem static to me. I like the yellow bush in the foreground. In the future, you might get low, shooting up at the bush and then having the cliffs in the background. I think the bush then would serve as a strong anchor and focal point. |

Good composition and subject matter. I especially like how the fences create an interesting geometric pattern across the fields. The barn and silo provide a strong focal point. My only suggestion for improvement is dodging the barn to make it lighter since it is such a strong element in your composition but now seems almost lost in a shadow. If I'm not mistaken, the roof looks rust colored. Lightening it up would make this image pop!

This does look more computer generated than an actual photo. HOWEVER, I think this is a wonderful image, no matter how it was created. I love the snowflakes, how the street draws me into the photo, the beautiful colors and the shops along either side. I think you've got a winner for a Christmas card next year! |

This was a perfect capture of the lighthouse and rainbows. A couple of things I especially like: The composition is excellent -- the shore and lighthouse provide directional lines, almost a V, and merge at the base of the rainbows. These lines direct us into the photo and to the pretty rainbows in the distance. I also think you did a great job of capturing a sharp focus, from the foreground to rainbows. And finally, I think the brush in the foreground offer a nice anchor and counterbalance to the tall light tower. |

It does look large. However, that's where the moon was. Since it was a rising moon, it would have only gotten higher in the sky. If I had arrived earlier, it would have been closer to the horizon but much dimmer. It does look "photoshopped" but since I don't know how to use Photoshop, this is the actual scene.
