Personally, I thought the people in the original image gave it a strong story appeal and sense of perspective. The woman sitting at near the top behind the fall is especially interesting. I also liked your original better than your revised image. To me, the revised version was a little too bright and lost some of the authentic coloring depicted in the unedited shot. Sure, the original could use some massaging to bring out more colors and contrast, but for me, I think you did a great job right out of the box that needed much less editing than you did. And again, the people were great. I think sometimes less time at the computer the better! |

Jerry pointed out the nice Z-line that leads from the street, to the sidewalk and to the building. I also agree with Jerry that the tall building on the left could be cropped out. This would bring more attention to the building in the center. It does look a little too bright, but maybe that's me. It's probably my monitor but I seem to detect a slightly green tint to the street, sidewalk and building. Again, this may be my monitor. |

As usual, you provide us with some exciting new techniques and creative approaches. This is a beautiful piece of art you've produced. I could see it framed and hanging in an art museum. |

I agree with Marti's and Jerry's comments. As with Jerry, I believe the weeds are too bright, a problem that can easily be cured with an adjustment brush. The sky is also too saturated. And also agreeing with Jerry, the red paint is overly saturated, rather than maintaining the old weathered look. Overall, this is perfectly composed and a great subject to photograph. To me, the minor issues with the image are due to a little too much editing, rather than the actual capture of the scene. |

This is a lovely shot. The horses add a good story element and focal point. Your adjustments really brought out the fall colors. Wonderful composition and great processing work. |

A lovely image. Well composed and lighted. Great work using the box lights. I also liked the conversion to black and white. Your work certainly shows off the capabilities of Lightroom! |

Thank you for your comments. I didn't do a B&W version but that's something I might do in the future with this image. I didn't capture more of the foreground simply because I was trying to replicate Ansel Adams' famous shot. I'm certainly not pretending to be anywhere near his caliber. This was just a fun exercise for me to stand in his footsteps. I've been a fan of his for 50+ years. Wish I'd bought some of his prints back then for a couple of hundred dollars instead of the thousands they're commanding today! |

You've captured a wonderful image here. Perfectly framed and executed just fine. I think the picnickers add a strong focal point and story element. |

Such beautiful colors you've captured here! Excellent composition and well worth an entry in your contest. I don't see why you couldn't enter it into the realistic category. Most contests allow adjustments. To me, altered reality means adding, removing, changing, etc. items in the image. |

You continue to dazzle me with such captivating images. The soft colors in this one are amazing. I especially like how the man in the boat are gliding between the sticks. I wonder about having him directly in the center of the frame, almost a "bull's eye". Maybe you could crop a little off the right to move him off-center while leaving the space on the left to provide room for his movement. |

A beautiful shot! Well composed, exposed and focused. I do think the waves and sand have too much of a purpleish tint. The original or Marla's adjustments look more natural to me. This would make a nice calendar feature. |

What a beautiful image! The curving trail draws you right into the scene. The greens are perfectly captured in all of their lushness. Your HDR work also enable you to get just the right amount of light in the background, giving it the natural appearance it deserves. |
