Great portrait and also a very unusual subject. The background perfectly sets off the costume. The bridge of his nose and under his right eye appear a little "hot." Maybe you could reduce the highlights there with an adjustment brush. |

First, please know that you and all of Florida are in our thoughts and prayers as the massive hurricane approaches.
Now to your image: I like the pose and composition, especially how she is glancing off to the side. To me, the lighting on her right cheek and neck appears a little harsh or too reflective. Could you fix that by reducing the highlights in those areas? I assume you didn't have a flash unit with you, but thinking about the "what ifs" about this image, a soft flash might have helped reduce her shadow on the blanket and made the fringe more visible.

Just took a look at your image on a different monitor. On a different monitor, the brightness looks perfect. Guess I need to adjust the brightness at my home computer! |

Great capture. Wonderful smile and pose. The only suggestion I have is to just slightly brighten the back of his head and jacket over his shoulder. Other than that, this looks perfect to me. |

A great composition and portrait. Wonderful pose. Looks like he's just off the battlefield. The only suggestion I have is to consider adjusting the skin tone slightly. His face and lips look just a bit too pinkish. Other than that minor point, I think you've done a fine job capturing this re-enactor. |

My wife and I are cat lovers. Growing up on a farm, she didn't have a lot of human playmates. Instead, she had lots of farm cat playmates who she dressed up in doll clothes and pushed around in a baby carriage until they jumped out, much to her irritation! We also love the work of Hans Silvester who has done several photo books of the cats of the Greek Islands. All this to say I think you've done a wonderful job here and captured a beautiful and striking portrait of this kitty.

Thank you. I agree with you and Marla. The sky competes for attention and draws the eyes away from the fence. Appreciate your observations and comments. |

Thank you for your comment! Corrals are used to pen up livestock. This was in a very remote area of the mountains. They probably used it to hold horses, cattle or sheep during the summer grazing season. It's too cold to keep the animals up there during the winter. The foreground shows a kind of alley way alongside the pens. They used these to herd animals to a trailer to haul them somewhere else. Due to its condition, this corral hasn't been used in recent years. |

A charming, serene capture. Nice shadows on the mansion and pretty reflections in the water. Perfectly composed with the tree limbs framing the shot. I think the little spikes of vegetation at the bottom could be cropped out, or include more of the shoreline itself and thus more vegetation to provide a nice anchor at the bottom. Nice shot. Thought you were showcasing your backyard until I read it was owned by the U of I! |

A stunningly beautiful photograph, something you'd see in National Geographic. I've always heard that the G7s were a perfect camera to take on a trip if you didn't want to haul around a bunch of lenses. Your shot definitely proves that point! I think the tall steeple on the left pulls the viewer in and anchors the entire scene. The other steeples provide a nice hop-scotch around the image. The colors are wonderful and the fog certainly adds to the mood. |

A beautiful landscape and cloud capture. I think you did an especially nice job considering this was taken from a moving car. You perfectly captured the rolling green fields. However, the tint in the clouds and sky seem off. You might try pulling a graduated filter over the sky and then working on your temps and tints on just that section alone. Other than my observation about the colors in the sky and clouds, I think you did a really good job. |

Your hard work paid off on this shot. This perfectly captures when I know about Sedona. It's well composed and your pano and bracketed efforts worked out well. It does seem to lean a little to the left, but maybe that's how the landscape really was. I also like your deep blue skies but wonder if you slightly dialed back the saturation it might give it the toning down it probably needs. Other than those minor points, I think you did a great job! |
