22 Apr 17 Reply Thank you. I like your adjustment. I hadn't noticed that brightness until you pointed it out. Easy to fix. Apr 24th
22 Apr 17 Reply You aced it this time! Nice job. Apr 11th
22 Apr 17 Reply Thanks for your nice comments. The waterfall splashed behind a line of trees, so I couldn't get the entire thing. Also, I didn't think of a panorama either! Good idea, though. Apr 11th
22 Apr 17 Comment I think there are several things to like about this image: The exposure and focus appear perfect. I like the way you've also framed it, with the two trees on either side serving as anchors. I also think the little strip of grass at the bottom and the amount of space you left at the top provide sufficient space. I'm concerned about how the tree on the right cuts the man in half. Personally, I think it would be better to crop the man out and leave half a tree. From a composition standpoint, I believe there are different elements competing for attention: The woman walking in the background and off the image, the man standing with the ball and his arm extended toward the ground, the three balls on the ground, the half-man on the right, the vibrant orange scooter in the background. In my opinion, it was difficult to find a subject or focal point of the image. Apr 10th
22 Apr 17 Comment I've driven past that house a zillion times. I agree that it is a very popular place for photographers in the spring when the bluebonnets pop out. Last time I was by there it appeared they were starting to build something in the next pasture, so I hope that doesn't ruin this great subject. I agree with Jerry and Peggy that it appear a bit dark. Personally, I think the grass is a shade too yellow or slightly oversaturated. It just looks "off" to me. I love the way you composed this, with the dirt road leading to the house and framed by the live oak trees on either side. Your exposure was perfect and you were able to keep both the near and far focused. A very lovely shot. Congratulations. Apr 9th
22 Apr 17 Comment I think Peggy nails it: This seems a work of art. You continue to delight me and I hope others with how you take mundane, everyday objects and transform them into such creative and original pieces. You are really taking your processing skills to great heights. I could see this piece in a modern photography museum or used some way in a high quality ad or corporate publication. Can't think of a way to improve this work! Apr 9th
22 Apr 17 Comment I think this is a wonderfully composed image. I like the way the mountains roll into the distance. The light sky in the distance also serves as a delightful counterbalance to the darker mountains in the foreground. You did an especially good job of keeping both the near and far in sharp focus. Your revised version appears to contain some noise in the sky. There also seems a white halo or blob hovering over the distant mountains on the left, upper corner. I'll be a contrarian though: I enjoyed your original version better than your revised version. I felt the original had some beautifully soothing and rich, majestic blues. This seemed well-suited to the rising fog. The revised version, compared to the original, seems a tad harsh in my opinion. Apr 9th
22 Apr 17 Reply Please! I need all the help I can get. Apr 5th
22 Apr 17 Reply Yes, telephone is the new way of spelling telephoto if you get in too much of a hurry and goof-up real bad! Thanks, Marti, would appreciate fixing my dumb typo. Apr 4th
22 Apr 17 Comment I agree with Vicki that you've done a fabulous job in salvaging a "hopeless" image. I'm very impressed. You've got a nice sharp exposure that depicts lots of action. I especially like the little tuff of dirt flying up behind the hooves. From a composition standpoint, I do find that the open area alley on the right is what grabs my eyes and leads them into the sun, leaving the horse and rider almost as an image afterthought. You probably had no choice in your position to get a better perspective. You might try cropping the open space and fence on the right and focus more on the horse and rider. To me, that really is the point of the shot. Anyway, congratulations on a great recovery of your image. Apr 3rd
22 Apr 17 Comment I think you did a beautiful job of capturing this scene. I especially like the action it depicts of the egret coming in for a landing. I also like the way you brightened it while leaving those in the background a bit soft in focus and a softer color. Your focus on the egret is extremely sharp, and I think you did a fabulous job of recovering a rather poorly exposed original shot. My suggestion is to consider cropping out the three birds along the shore on the left. If that crop doesn't work, you might try cropping at least the two farthest on the left. They seem to me a distraction from the egret landing. Apr 3rd

71 Apr 17 Comment My suggestion would be to print it, frame it and hang it on your wall! It is extremely well composed. The cranes are perfectly placed in the open area between the trees. The roof line on the barn even serves to direct the eye toward them. What makes this pop is the red barn. I don't know how must post-processing you did, but everything seems perfect to me. FYI, we were in Bosque del Apache in mid-February just as the last of the sand hills were leaving. They are absolutely phenomenal birds, especially when hundreds take flight at the same time. Capturing them in mid-flight with such a sharp focus as you did is extremely hard to do. Apr 26th
71 Apr 17 Comment I think you achieved your goal of capturing a late winter scene. I get goose bumps just imaging how cold it was. I also think it contains a good nature story element by conveying the solitude of a rural scene and the feeling of a winter storm. I'm guessing you were happy when spring rolled around! Apr 26th
71 Apr 17 Comment I'm new to this group but wanted to start commenting on a few of the wonderful images everyone posts. Nancie, I'm glad you made it to the Grand Canyon. It's one of my favorite places but a place I find a bit difficult to capture in all of its glory. What I think you've done well here is show the vast expanse of the canyon. Getting the Colorado River in the shot is an extra bonus. You also got great depth of field, with everything sharp from the foreground to the rim off in the distance. Your exposure seemed good as well. I agree with Marla that it appeared flat to me. I think her adjustments helped a lot. I also felt there wasn't a strong focal point to center on. Maybe stand a little back from the edge and use a tree or limb to better frame it. Apr 26th
71 Apr 17 Comment I think this is an absolutely breathtaking image. It is beautifully composed, with the net casting around the sun and the fisherman backlit. The shadows on the water create a line that directs the eye to the focal point of the shot. The colors are magnificent -- something out of National Geographic! Your exposure is perfect and the focus is just right. What I especially like about this is that it draws me in and transports me to another place. Apr 26th
