This has become an interesting abstract. I especially like the cyan curvy lines that counter-balance all the straight lines. Sometimes I have ocular migraines that make multi colored, wriggling, strange shapes appear in the distance, and your image reminded me of that experience. (I don't get a headache with them, so it wasn't a painful experience to view your image - just reminiscent.) Definitely altered reality! |

This is a unique treatment of a rusty old car. I would never have thought about combining a pastel rainbow effect on a rustic subject. Somehow it works for a nice effect. |

Another fun image Mike. Using the feathers as a background for the sled took it into the realm of some alien landscape. My only suggestion would be to give the purple heron something to do in the scene - he looks a bit lost up there in the corner. Maybe make him larger and about to pull off the blue hat with his beak?! Completely silly but it would give him a reason for being included in the scene. I like your sense of humor in creating lighthearted images that give the viewer something to smile about. We need more smiles in the world! :-) |

The light painting of the dancer is very beautiful Frans. There is so much expression in her body and face. You placed the Barongs perfectly by changing their positions from right to left in the final composite. The dancer's eyes are focused nicely on the one on the right, which is also looking toward her. The lighting on the Barongs' faces is very nice in the original, but they've gotten a little too dark in the final, in my opinion. I used the Dodge tool to lighten them a bit, and added a thin border to delineate the edges of the image on our black DD background. I love the emotion and cultural beauty of this piece. Very nice! |

I would say this very much resembles a Japanese art piece Gunter. I really like the way you overlaid the clouds on both the sun and background. I can't quite decide whether I like the sun with crisp edges as in Original 2, or blended into the background, with the top and bottom fading to black. The beautiful yellow has changed to a muddy green shade in the final. The eagle was a great idea to take the composite into the realm of art. I would have kept the white tail feathers from the original, as he looks a little "naked" without them. I'm confused by the orange patch on his left wing. It looks like you added that over the white area on the original, thinking that was snow showing through. But I think it's just white feathers. At any rate, this is a really nice, minimalist rendition of oriental art. Well conceived and executed! |

I like your version a lot Carol. I never thought about just using the guy in the blue shirt and leaving out the rest of that trio. Great idea. Thanks! |

Thanks for your version Linda. It certainly is another way to be creative with the original; I definitely don't mind your experimentation. I was mostly aiming for an abstract image, so that's why I left the dog and his owners out. I left in the bright area in the center because I felt it gave a "going towards the light" aspect of where the people were headed. But I see how it might be a little too bright and distracting. Thanks! |

Thanks Denise. I liked reading your interpretation. It's so interesting how different eyes see different things. |

I definitely like the closer crop Denise. These mushrooms are SO interesting, and the grouping is perfect. The painterly look works nicely. I also like that you darkened and blurred the background to bring the focus more on the mushrooms. I sort of felt it might work to go even further with that concept, so I took it into PS for a bit of an experiment. The light leaves right near the mushrooms are beautifully twisted and colored, and add nice leading lines toward the mushrooms, but all the other background stuff seems a bit distracting to my eye. So I cropped in even closer, added a glow, and darkened the edges just to see the effect. I probably went too far, but I had fun working with your lovely image. You did all the hard work - well done! |

Well, you really did make it look more artistic, Linda! You brought out a lot of beautiful detail too. The bird's eyes are downright penetrating, and it makes this shot unique because he's looking so directly at you. Beautiful catch light in his eyes too. His beak could perhaps be enhanced a bit, as it has mostly blended into the rest of his face. The white wing feathers, and especially the leaf on the lower left have gone a bit too turquoise after processing, but that's just a nitpick. I love the helter skelter leaves; such a nice place for him to be sitting. Lovely art piece! |

Your colors and textures in this image are lovely Mary. You did a great job of pulling the contrast and detail out of the jellyfish. I like the motion blur you applied to the rest of the image; it definitely did add motion to the scene. I might have cropped in even closer on the jellyfish, just to give it a bit more prominence since it's so interesting and kind of mysterious. I can only imagine how fun it was to have these lovely creatures close to your boat and be able to enjoy them and photograph them for more than a fleeting moment. Very nice! |

I really like the shallow depth of field on the original; the flower has so many pretty focal points. I have to admit I have a difficult time properly appreciating insect photography, so I'm not able to say much beyond the fact that it's well focused and detailed. Sorry Jodi! One of my best friends is an amazing bee photographer; PSA once featured her in an article titled "Bee Queen." She sometimes shows me shots she has taken, but she knows I'm squeamish and can't look at them for more than a few seconds. But I certainly can appreciate the skill and patience it takes to shoot and process photos like yours; nicely done! |

You really elevated a snapshot into a lovely piece of art, Carol. I love all the textures you used. I'm sure taking out the fence took some time. Your crop is perfect. There's an almost ethereal feel to this, with the softness of the background and the beautifully wispy hair. My only suggestion would be to clone out or use the spot healing brush to get rid of the piece of straw, or whatever, on the right side of his nose. Beautifully shot and processed! |
