Thanks Georgianne. I agree that Brian's vertical crop works better. Most of my images these days are originally created for Instagram, so I usually go with a square format to keep everything tidy in my IG gallery. But that means sometimes I compromise looks for logistics. In this case, I should have taken the time to fix it for posting to our Group. |

Great composite idea Georgianne. I love your treatment of the boat, and the items inside the boat really contribute to the nice feel of the image. I do agree with the other comments that the dog seems a bit pasted in. It seemed to me that maybe the contrast between the dark dock and the light dog might be the reason. Since you said you were envisioning a moonlit night, I went into PS Render>Lighting Effects, which I've used many times to nice effect. But in the new PS update I just downloaded I got a message saying the 3D effects were being discontinued because they aren't working properly. Sheesh, they were working fine before -- why did they mess with them? Anyway, I decided just to try using the Dodge tool to shed a little lightness on the dock. Once I did that, it seemed the boat was a little too light for the night scene, so I Burned it a bit on the vertical surfaces, and then Dodged some of the horizontal surfaces that would be lighter in moonlight.A shadow was added to the dog too to ground him to the dock. It's not anywhere as nice as the previous Lighting Effects tool would have done though. Your image is a "feel good" composite that makes me want to go boating with a cute pup! |

I like the simplicity in this image Alan. The red carpet is such a nice pop compared to all the other neutrals. The ruins and yogi totally look like they belong together, even though they're from different places. Your created shadow gives nice space below the carpet for a nice levitation feeling. If I was going to nitpick, I'd suggest that the carpet shadow be wider since the sun is pretty much directly overhead and the carpet is quite large. The shadow of the yogi would then be maybe just his shoulders and head since he's sitting on top of the carpet and smaller than the carpet in the vertical space. A quick edit here just to illustrate what I mean. Looks like Brian is a "shadow" person too, so you got a double dose! :-) I did check out your Levitation #2 image -- also pleasantly simple and very well done! |

Thanks Brian and welcome to Group 34! I like what you did with my image. I was pretty heavy handed with the grunge filter so your version is much brighter. Thanks for taking the time to "have a play." |

Great fun and creativity here Fran! You did an excellent job of combining all the elements. Brian's idea is cool, but I think I agree with you that the "fallen" element should be a flower rather than an eye. My only nitpick would be that the hand with the pink flower is a bit too dark compared to the others. You have a very creative mind and I like the quirky ideas you come up with for a wide range of images. Well done! |

First of all, welcome to Group 34 Brian. Glad to have you with us. Second, congratulations on defending your magnolia tree against the opossums this year. Your image is a nice homage to that effort. I do agree with Fran's comment about the saturation of the reflection; it might appear more natural if you ratchet it back a bit. I applaud you for starting to learn Flaming Pear Flood as soon as you found out about it. And it looks like you've made a nice go of it. One question -- did you use a black backdrop for your original image thinking that you'd keep it black? Or did you do it so that PS would have an easier time selecting out the tree? |

Love this image Candy! You did a fabulous job of blending the existing pine needles on the bumper with the nesting straw. I like that you lightened up the bird so the details are more noticeable. I do agree with Brian about the green hue on the top of the bird. Your various treatments all worked together to produce an outstanding composite! |

Ah, the return of the Goths! These bad boys are wonderfully menacing, and the scene you created for them is perfect in tone and mood. The Flood treatment was applied beautifully. You did a great job of making the lighting consistent on the three characters. The outside stroke was a nice final touch. Well conceived and adeptly executed! |
