Your Jack is very creepy Alan. Using three versions of him at various distances was a good idea. I also like your treatment of the background scene with some colors faded and some brightened, which helps the viewer's eye bounce around the image, along with Jack. The stone walls and pavers seem overly sharpened to my eye and detract from the other more important elements of the scene, but I guess that's a matter of personal preference. Your masking skills are top notch. Well done! |

What a fun image Candy - I love it! You did a great job of composing the still life scene. At first I was a bit confused as to what the shiny ball was, since there was only one, but then realized it was one of the feet of the plate or stand. The jug is so very cool. The face is endearing and I love the fact that you left the cork top ajar a bit, which gives the scene even more interest. The final coloring and textures are great. Nicely conceived and processed! |

I think your floating marbles are fun and uplifting Steve! It's a happy image. We need happy things to look at these days. When I first saw it, I imagined the balls to be those plastic blow-up beach balls that have designs inside, so of course they would be floating. Your treatment of the water works too, I think, to increase the lively factor of the scene. Well done! |

This guy has a lot of personality Georgianne. I love the way he's looking right at the viewer. I agree with the other comments about the background being a bit busy. Since I'm a big fan of filters, I decided to try a couple on the ram to see what would happen if he was taken into that realm. I added dynamic contrast and HDR effect in On1 and blurred the background while I was there. Then back in PS I added subtle Oil Paint, a catch light in each eye and a vignette. I also cropped it to place his face in the upper third quadrant. Not sure it's an improvement, but I had run playing. Nice original subject matter for sure! |

Gosh, this is a hard one to comment on Fran. I'm probably the most squeamish person on the planet, so it kind of rattles me. When I read your description, I was impressed with the various techniques you used to recreate the scene and from that aspect I would say it was well done. The image itself isn't something I can enjoy looking at, so forgive me for not studying it at length. I'm going to go find some photos of bunnies or puppies online to refresh my eyeballs. :) |

Thanks for your kind words Alan. Having a graphic design background, I'm partial to giving a lot of "white space" (breathing room) in a composition like this; it just feels more comfortable to my eye. I do thank you though for taking the time to illustrate a different proportion. |

This is a beautiful conversion to a winter scene Lori. I love the coloration; it gives it a nice mood. Like Fran, I couldn't tell the horse was a horse, even at magnification. Also, the area between the open doorway and the brown door on the right didn't seem to get the same treatment as the rest of the structure. It seems to me that if that area had the same stone texture as the rest, it wouldn't distract the viewer's eye away from the rest of the lovely scene. I love the tree in the foreground - so expressive and has beautiful texture. Nicely processed! |
