Thanks Georgianne for your kind words. I've been doing composites for about eight years. I belonged to a competition club for the first six of those years and learned a lot from judges' comments. But I became disillusioned with photo competition (I'm not a very competitive person) and now just create them for personal enjoyment. I was a Graphic Designer for many years, and I think that experience helps me figure out what I want to "say" when I work on a composite. |

Doh! Why didn't I get that? I use Photoshop CC. Darken, Lighten, Pin Light, etc are all Blend Modes in Photoshop. Do you use Photoshop? |

Thank you for your kind words and assessment Gary. I'm glad to clarify my use of the various blend modes, but I'm not sure what you're referring to when you ask what "SW" they were done in. |

The vibrant colors are wonderful Helen. I like the filters you applied. I agree with Steve that a few stars or maybe the Milky Way behind it could work too. My front door reflects similarly on my living room walls and I've taken shots of them many times, but end up deleting them after awhile because I never do anything with them. You did a great job of seeing what was possible and carrying it through! |

Great image Denise! You did a nice job of removing all traces of the chair and the levitation effect works well. I like the image as it is because it's simple and has impact. However, I had recently created a parabolic wisp and immediately thought of it when I saw your image, so I've added it as a bit of "swamp gas" below Lilly for fun and to see what you think. |

Cool abstract Georgianne. I admire your experimentation with your camera. My good camera is so heavy that I seldom use it any more; my cell phone is pretty much the only thing I use. But I know I'm missing out on all the advantages of shooting with a good camera. I think you've inspired me to dig it out and go out and shoot! I like it! |

Another thought provoking surreal image, Alan. I love the tension between the two pianists. The one on the right is "stuck" to the wall, as evidenced by the shadows (or reflections?) as you placed them. The pianist on the left is clearly floating above the floor, with your different shadowing. The dancer adds a lot to the scene and the viewer can almost hear the music playing. Putting her off-center works nicely. The doorway on the left is a bit distracting to my eye, since it's so bright. Your composition of three main elements is "sticking to the rules," but everything else about the image says "What rules?" Well done! |

Beautiful flower, Candy. When you started processing, did you know which filters you planned to use, or did you use experimentation trial and error? The purity of the original in its color and sharpness is lovely, but your changes have produced an alternate bit of loveliness. I like your final crop and coloring very much. Nicely done! |

This is a beautiful image Steve. It makes me want to go for a peaceful walk on your lovely Moors. You did a great job with the HDR processing -- enhanced but not overdone. I love the texture of the gate and the light on the pathway. I didn't notice the cross until I read your description, as it seems to blend in the with background colors. Perhaps if it was a bit larger (or closer) so the crossbar was in front of the sky? All of your various post processing decisions made great enhancements to the original. Wonderful mood and charm here! |
