This is great fun Helen -- made me chuckle. Nice job on creating the open door. The diagonal lines of the moulding around the door draw the viewer into the scene beautifully. I agree with your comment about the man needing a reflection on the water. My only other suggestion would be to perhaps soften the line of the water where it meets the background foliage a bit, as it seems a tad too stark and straight to my eye. Your title is cute and goes with the whimsy of the image. Clever and creative composite. Well done! |

What a hoot, Denise! Great job of planning ahead and executing your vision. With your grandson's old timey hat and jacket, it's perfect that you switched to black & white rather than color. Love the sparkle at the bottom of the glass. How did you do it? Great job with the splashes too. You and your grandson will look back on this image years from now with fond memories, I'm sure. Well done! |

Great, fun image Georgianne! I love the colorization that you ended up with. The chaos and helter-skelter nature of the event comes through nicely with the way you've arranged everything. The cute couple in costume seem like they need a bit of shadowing to anchor them on the ground, to my eye. I didn't notice all the bees you added to the honey pot man's shirt at first, but fun to discover after studying the image for awhile. Nicely composited! |

What a cute little guy. Looks exactly like the one Steve photographed too. I like your treatment Candy. You isolated him nicely from the background and your crop is perfect. I have a terrible time photographing wildlife in good focus, so sometimes when I really want to use one that's not as sharp as I'd like it, I use the PS Poster Edges filter (in Filter Gallery/Artistic). By setting both the Edge Thickness and Edge Intensity to 0 and Posterization to 6 (max), it adds just a skosh of detail without making the image look like a drawing rather than a photo. Frequently it works for me anyway. I've left the effect on the entire image here, but the background could be masked out to keep it soft and blurred. |

Most definitely it was worth the effort Steve! You isolated the dancers wonderfully and I really like the fact that the background is neutral but has some color variations and character. Your tenacity in treating each dancer differently with their motion trails worked great. Thanks for the tip on duplicating the mask. I know you've said you live in a small town; was this event in your area or did you have to travel away to see it? Love the way you simplified and processed great motion into your original. Well done! |

Thanks Steve. I think you would get a hoot out of some of the ipad apps. It seems daunting to decide because there are so many, but one of my most favorite is iColorama. Tons of fun presets to tinker with just for fun when you're needing some relaxation time. And I think you've given me an idea for next month's image too -- cool! |

In my write-up I forgot to mention that once I added the brown panels to extend the arches in front of the steps, I realized that the narrow column at the back of the arches didn't make logistical sense. I was planning to fix that but didn't want to chop up the steps even more. Once I added the spiral clock and staircase in the sky, I decided logistics had gone out the window anyway (hee hee), so I just left it as it was. |

This is a lovely image. I love the light on the center of the flower. The yellow and purple colors are wonderful and the textures make me want to reach out a touch it. Nice job! |

This is an amazing image. I so admire the sharpness of the eye and body. I have trouble getting a snail tack sharp, let alone a hummingbird. Beautifully captured! |
