The bird is beautiful Bruce. All the above. I thought I would try to put in an artificial DOF by blurring the background with a mask and gradient tool but as Linda said it looked like you did something with the background already. My guess is that it is more a blur than darkening.
Mark did a very good job of bringing out the detail in the feathers and the whites are not blown Great shot of the bird. It is a shame you cannot have a bird pose because seeing the feet and getting rid of the branch in front would be good in a perfect world. Great natural shot. |

I agree, this is a wonderful dramatic moment captured. I also
think bringing the lightening bolts and especially the major strike into more of a focal point would be good. Many methods of doing that. Great and possibly scarey shot so close to you with a 26 mm lens. |

Mark, don't get me wrong. I like the story with the garbage bags also. It helps picture more of who the man is. It also stirs up memories of Seattle and New Orleans. Great capture of the man and dog. I can see he is not just some fun loving hippy and his dog. Maybe it is just my thinking but even the dog looks sad. I only took out the bags because you mentioned that you tried. One other thought, maybe just one bag would be less distracting.
Great framing, color and focus. Great character study. |

Beautiful ! I agree with all of the above. Like linda's crop. Do not think the plants on the side are needed. The background can be muted as Linda suggested or it could be blurred with blokeh. The edibles could be more distinct
Great image !!! |

You certainly captured that bird. Some things I tried were to increase vibrance of the water. I think it helps put the terraine in perspective and increases contrast. I used Gradient tool to adjust light intensity. It seemed to look better having it go from bright on th bottom and darker on top. I burned in some of the white feathers and did a vignette. I thought the bird should clearly stand out from the background. Wonder what he is thinking. |

I also like the lines, the leading path, tones and textures, but I found that the main focus could be the walk through the wall, archway with what appear to be mountains in the background. To that end I am suggesting a very different crop. let me know what you think. |

I thought I posted the steps after I went back but it does not look like I submitted it correctly.
I used the Generative fill and also put it grass. I also got a bunch of body parts. After a number of trials with generative fill there was space between the subjects and trash. I then used creative fill. Not sure if there is a way with less steps. |

I went and tried again. I put in grass and after many generative replacements one was easy to encircle. I used creative fill and dragged it to lawn in the same image. this worked as attached. Good luck. not shure why it was picking bodily parts. |

Used select subject, lasoo and added with selection tool I BELIEVE. A friend did say that part of the reflection of the head is missing. I am going to go back and look.
I did go from one tool to another. Not sure the exact order. |

It has a mind of its own but I could make it the same on the on the left and right. Just showing it versatile. If you want to change the original you can put in anything but the trash adds to the story, I think . |

Love the photo and story. I will look longer after I finally post an image. I did mess with Generative fill and Creative fill though. They do work with some avoidance of some blocks it throws up about the image. Maybe the trademarks on the cans, don't know. It picked the guy on left although I could have changes it. That AI is frightening. |
