If it were a studio portrait I could see smoothing the skin. I DID A QUICK VIGNETTE s a lazy alternative to removing all the background. I still may have shaded the sides to draw one into the subject. thanks for the input. |

Thank you Mark. But does the shot possess a story ? Does it relate feelings or sentiment ?

Thanks Alex. I am never too good with teeth whitening and the vignette was a way to get rid of some of the background. It probably could take those touch ups, I will check out the teeth whitening. Too much time to tease out the hair on top, but if that was not there I would try less vignette. |

Agree with the above. You made an artistic transformation, my goal. The background is bright as Lane is pointing out but in this case my eyes are drawn from the sparkly ground to the darker sharp leave. Maybe you could graduate the brightness in the right upper corner behind the leaf down slightly but not much. |

Agree with the others so far I am surprised at the noise in the wings though, unless you cropped alot. Nice catch.
I have been hanging out with too many birders. Sharp eye and motion is most impressive. If you shot with the 5DSR at 1200 iso I would be surprised about the noise but do not know how much you cropped. Owls are wise evaders.

I hang out with birders with whom I have no patience nor they with me for birds. I can never come close to their perfect lighting, ideal feather discernment and most importantly the "eyes", with focus and a small glint. One out of 500 photos are good for them and most are getting $6000 cameras and burn out shutters from so many shots. I did not know you could do this. When you buy a used camera there is a way to check how many shots have been taken. So although It is a nice photo to me, like color and position, my birder friends may not be so kind. If you want good bird photos it is a specialty of its own. Be sure and get a bird calling ap for your smart phone. and check bird sites. It is fun to try though. |

A neat portrait of an adventurous woman. Is that supposed to be a fake right eye, was not sure. If so a patch may be fitting. focus, color and pose is excellent. The light seems to me to come from upper left (our orientation) back. You can see the shadow on the right, of something projected onto the bus. I agree that the background distractions could be toned down or blurred. I am not sure if the glare off the headphones can be diminished. I feel like messing with those things but may just do it for fun. Models are nice to deal with. Why mess with birds and rocks? Sorry Mark I could not help myself. With all of the other suggestions I think the main one would be to get up close and personal. |

I also like this picture with it's serene feeling and and the expanding pier but it seems to lend itself to different renditions. I also, without realizing that Alex mentioned it, sharpened it and liked the pier even more. With nik silver effects thought I could bring out some of the tonal differences in the foreground ripples. I preferred croppin out more of the top with the tonal changes that confused me. I like the photo, composition except for some minimal reframing and like that it is a pretty serene image with whichever rendition you choose. and amazing structure. |

This truly has a definite ambience. the shades and lines impart the desperate feeling with light on the left reminding one of the world outside. I wonder what is down the hall, It looks like an entrance to a death chamber.I can imagine what a loud riot with all those levels and cells filled with prisoners would be like. I cannot help but imagine what the smells of excrement were like in the halls with so many people locked in. Very powerful wonderful image which conjures up horor. It is probably worse than being in the senate in the riot. A timely excellent piece. |

Thank you Linda. With new tools out there I may have done better, But this itself is not a competition and I do not have those tools handy. |
