This is a very strong picture for a number of reasons. The path is different as it has a shape of its own instead of the usual dirt straight path into the woods. Another is that you didn't need to show the full height of the trees. What is shown is quite sufficient to "tell" the viewer it is a big woods with lots of tall trees. And for me the most important is the coloring. The yellow is a soft inviting yellow and not a bit harsh as it could be. The bits of blue nicely interrupt the overall yellow cast. I Like it. If it doesn't do well in competition it certainly will do well hanging on a wall as it will calm one down during these trying times. |

The frame is an unusual and very interesting structure. Because it leads the eye to the building, I would like to see more of the building than just the wall. If the fencing kept you from showing more then you did the best that you could in telling about the head frame. Most of the time I'll comment on "having some nice clouds" but in this case the clouds partially obscure the detail of the diagonal part that goes into the building. |

That tree presented quite a challenge. It looks huge so the question is how much or how little should be photographed. The "tangle" of branches are quite interesting. My sole suggestion is to experiment with adding some contrast so the branches are darker and the foliage whiter. |

I normally agree about taking a person of of a picture but in this case leaving the person in would add scale and show just how big the structure it. There are times when someone in the scene adds to the overall effect. You were fortunate in having that big white cloud behind the top as the top being black would blend into the sky. |

Whatever you did in CLiR worked as the final result is quite good. There is a lot to look at with the collection of buildings on the left side of the river. I particularly like having the chimney on the left complimenting the church steeple on the right. I normally don't care for the foliage color but in this instance I see the foliage as leading the eye down the river to the buildings which are the dominate part of the scene. |

My initial reaction was a conflict between two very different subjects. But the more I looked at your picture the more that I liked the two different subjects. Each has its own interest and as they are so different it works. The tree is so huge it could easily dominate the scene but there is beauty in the church construction. I like what you did and have one suggestion. The church need to be straightened as it tilts. |
