While the original is colorful the b/w rendition shows off the textures of the spices and, to me, are more appealing. The bottom left and bottom right dishes are the only ones similar in tonality but they form the base for the scene. The others each have their own coloration. This is a different way of presenting IR and you executed the conversion extremely well. |

This is a very dramatic scene as the strong bold lines of the sculpture dominate over all else. What makes it interesting is the relationship with the natural objects surrounding it - the trees, clouds and grass. I like it for that reason. The path brings you into the scene and leads you to the sculpture then on to nature. A nice combination and you did a good conversion from IR. |

It is your "soft" coloring that makes this image stand out. Having the boat (is that what is called a punt?) a light tan color brings the eye into the scene. There is so much to examine, all of which is interesting but do not compete for attention. In my judging days I would say that "everything works together and makes for an extraordinary picture to look at and enjoy." Simply said, the composition and post processing is outstanding. |

Ever since moving to California Yosemite has been a favorite destination - any time of the year. My challenge is how to photograph the park so it isn't just a copy of pictures of the famous landmarks. (One workshop leader stated "Don't shoot the icons, leave them for the tourists. Look for other significant subjects.") At first this was difficult but suddenly I started seeing something different and the workshop turned out to the one of my best photo adventures in Yosemite. Enough said. El Cap is a destination and you, using IR, have presented it a bit differently than the usual. It is just enough to make me want to return. In other words, you did a fine job. |
