Hi Sabine, thank you! I'm so glad you feel the patience paid off. I really wanted to capture that calm, relaxed moment between them, and I'm happy the "father and son" dynamic came through for you. |

Hi Randy, what a wonderfully peaceful and tranquil scene. I love how you captured that subtle light from the setting sun.
Great editing work-the features you wanted to enhance really come through. One compositional suggestion for you to consider: I think cropping in on the right-hand side to remove that heaviest dark shadow area would improve the balance. This small change would immediately emphasize the waterfall and make that beautiful warm light on the cliff face the undeniable highlight of the shot.
Good capture! |

Hi Sylvia, I love this geometric composition. It's so sad to think of all the memories made here, and the image perfectly captures that lifeless, empty feeling. I'm glad you were able to document this before it is gone.
Lovely patterns through those strong parallel lines. Since you mentioned you are already working with lens and geometric masks for your shots, you might consider trying a quick 'geometric' or 'upright' transformation. This can help straighten up that front steel handrail just a bit, which would make all those vertical lines perfectly aligned with the frame.
Wonderful and moving shot! |

Hi Douglas, I love this shot! This puppy is absolutely sweet and the "Dog Library" background is such a charming story. You did a great job using those masking and vignette tools in Lightroom to separate him from the ground.
I was curious if bringing his eyes out just a touch would enhance the connection with the viewer. Since you mentioned you are already comfortable with the masks in Lightroom, you might consider using a small object mask to subtly lift the Shadows and Whites over the eyes just a hair, which can add a little extra life to his expression. What do you think? |

Thanks, Randy! Good eye-that was a hand and a bottle I completely missed. I've edited them out for a cleaner silhouette, which I agree improves the shot. |

Hi Yvonne, thank you for your input on the "film noir" feel. You were right about the distracting shapes-it was a hand and a bottle. I've cleaned that area up to focus on the conversation. |

Thanks, Jim! I'm glad the post-processing worked. My goal was to remove all those distracting bar elements to focus entirely on their intent conversation, so I'm thrilled you found it so cinematic. |

Hi everyone,
Thank you all so much for the thoughtful feedback on "Spheres of Influence." It's fascinating to see how the story shifted for each of you-from a father-son dynamic to a more pensive, "film noir" conversation.

Jim, I really love the mood of this shot. It's incredibly tranquil and peaceful, and those softer, muted colors work perfectly to set that tone. The reflection on the water is a fantastic highlight that really ties the whole scene together. Beautiful work! |

Yvonne, great work on this -the contrast between the warm facade and the dark sky is striking.
Quick suggestions for polish:
• Perspective: Use the 'Transform' or 'Geometry' tools to lock in those vertical lines; it will give the building a more grounded, architectural feel.
• The Moon: Consider keeping the moon in future edits! You could de-saturate it to keep the focus on your yellow color theme while adding a nice sense of atmosphere.
Beautiful shot! |

Hi Sabine, I really love the energy in this shot-you've captured such a great, lively atmosphere! The choice to convert this to black and white was a fantastic decision; it really allows the viewer to focus on the movement and the beautiful patterns of the half-timbered buildings, which pair perfectly with the vintage aesthetic of the riders. It feels very authentic to the spirit of a 'Tweed Ride.'
It's such a busy, candid scene that it's inherently tricky to manage the positioning of all the riders, but it's always fun to keep an eye out for those moments where the main subject gets a little extra 'breathing room' from the pack. You've done a wonderful job telling this story! |
