Randy, what a breathtaking view! The composition is wonderful - the S-curves of the road and the winding Klickitat River create beautiful leading lines that draw the eye through the valley toward Mt. Hood in the distance. The layers of the landscape (foreground hills, the green valley, and the snow-capped mountain) give the image great depth. The soft light and subtle colors in the sky add a peaceful quality to the scene. This spot definitely seems like it would be stunning at sunrise or sunset - I hope you get the chance to return and capture it in that golden light! |

Sylvia, this is a beautiful still life! The red berries in the gold vase really pop against that dark background, and the rich red tablecloth ties the composition together perfectly. It's so festive with the pinecones, gold ornaments, and rusty bells - the arrangement has a wonderful holiday warmth to it. The lighting and colors are so well balanced that this feels like it could be a classical painting. Did you arrange and style this scene yourself? Either way, beautifully captured! Still life can be quite challenging, especially with shadows and lighting, but you've created something really lovely here. |

Jim, this is an outstanding image! The zoom burst technique creates such dynamic energy - I love how the pink flower petals radiate outward with those subtle extended abstractions. The yellow center being perfectly sharp and centered provides a strong focal point while the motion blur creates a wonderful sense of movement and depth. The pink tones with hints of white and touches of green are beautifully balanced. Really impressive execution of this technique - beautifully captured and edited! |

Douglas, I always enjoy Longwood at Christmas too! The candlelight and decorated books against that rich red velvet background really capture the holiday spirit beautifully. The warmth and elegance of the scene come through nicely.
One thought on the composition: the candelabra being dead center makes the image feel a bit static, and the pillow on the chair being cropped off at the bottom feels a bit abrupt. Perhaps stepping back slightly to include more of the surrounding decor, or shifting the angle to create a more dynamic composition, might give the image more breathing room and visual flow.
Overall though, lovely holiday atmosphere - Longwood really does put on a wonderful display! |

Yvonne, what a striking image! The contrast and abstract quality are fantastic - the interplay of patterns (circles, stripes, polka dots) creates such visual energy. I love how the silhouetted figure in the center acts like a conductor in an orchestra, and the off-center placement works perfectly to keep the composition dynamic rather than static. The black and white conversion really amplifies the graphic nature of the scene. This is a masterpiece - you've captured something truly unique at the Balloon Museum! |

Sabine, beautiful composition! The balance is excellent - the water reflection and St. Michael's Church in the background create a lovely focal point, while the foreground boats add great depth. The warm lights against the evening sky capture that magical transitional moment perfectly. The contrast between the dark foreground and illuminated cityscape really draws the eye through the scene. Really nice work! |
