Beautiful creature in beautiful lighting...Wish the eyes were open. The clarity is good. I agree with Harry that the BG is a bit noisy. Otherwise a very nice nature image indeed! |

Wow what a great self portrait! I will surely try the Dragan Effect ( not on me surely) :)
I would like to see some details on the right shoulder area. I also feel some light can be thrown under the hat as it looks a bit muddy to me. Else everything is just great...

I agree with all the above comments, and there is nothing more for me to add. Just cropping it from below and making it panoramic would be ideal.

Welcome to the group Piers. Good try but I think the bird was perhaps a bit far away and so a bit pixelated. Of course as you stated the lighting must have been a real challenge, considering that I feel you have done a good job.
I agree with Gary and Harry regarding cropping and that the focus is more on the foliage.
Hope you get another similar chance in fairer weather.
