Kirsti, your choice of crop and conversion to b&w is excellent. Your second version is even better as the darkened background makes the main subject more prominent. The second girl does not bother me, but it would be interesting to see if you tried cloning her out. |

I love this picture. Everything is perfectly placed, the colors are gorgeous, the sun not overpowering. Well done. I would hang this one on my wall so that I could look at it constantly. |

I like the symmetry and the color palette of the yellows and blues. I would crop from the top to eliminate the blue above the wing and end the top portion in yellow.
This is really an interesting perspective.

The composition is interesting, but I do find the yellows rather over bearing. Darkening may help.
The bricks appear noisy. Have you tried Topaz Denoise AI? I find that it does a good job when your ISO had to be higher.

Bob, it was really worth the fall and recovery to get this shot. Good thing that you were able to protect the camera equipment!
You have done an excellent job in processing this image. The greens are bright but not over powering, the blue sky is just right and that crooked rock is amazing! How long can it stand that way without falling over! |

I tried that, but the whites became blown out. |

Congratulation on your patience to wait for the fly to return to its favorite position. The fly is really sharp but unfortunately gets lost in the busy background. I don't know if you could darken the background without darkening the wing. Its a pity that you could not position yourself with the pond in the background. Maybe next time! |

Ken, welcome to our group. I'm sure that we will learn much from each other.
I love this image. The color palette is beautiful and enough of the fish is in focus. The curvature of the tail is a bonus. I think it was a good idea to include the second fish as it forms a partial frame for your main subject. |

Your flower is beautifully sharp. I agree with Deans adjustment to the background, which eliminates much of the distraction. I would also suggest lightening the bee slightly so that it stands out better against the flower. |

It is a pity that you were not able to capture the Moms face to get the interaction. So I tend to agree with Dean that the close crop is preferable. I love the color palette and intensity of the gaze. Well done. |

What an unusual pose! Even the backside view works to your advantage. Did you try to lighten the eye? Perhaps you could clone in a highlight in the eye. In the old slide days, we would prick through the emulsion with a fine pin to create the highlight in the eye. |

Dean, you are becoming the monochrome expert of our group!
I would prefer to see more contrast by making the blacks a little stronger. |

Thanks for your suggestion, Pierre. Here I redid the crop to include more space on the left. I think this makes the bird too central What do you think of this crop? |
