26 Mar 22 Comment Welcome to our group, Ann. I look forward to seeing many more great images from you.
The lighting on your model is so subtle that there are no over bright areas. However I would prefer to see the eyes a little brighter with possibly a highlight in the eyes. Luminar AI has a great tool for enhancing the eyes in a portrait.

26 Mar 22 Reply Thank you for your comments about the roof tip. I see your point completely, but unfortunately this is something that I would never notice no matter how long I looked at the picture! Mar 15th
26 Mar 22 Comment Sorry that I was not able to have the "eyes" opened. The scene was quite deserted. Mar 15th
26 Mar 22 Comment I love the way the light falls on his beard and lights up the smoke. The rim lighting on the pipe and hat are an added bonus. I do prefer the color version as it is warmer.
Is this a studio set up?

26 Mar 22 Comment Your eye for patterns always impresses me. The strong colors here, blue and orange make the composition pop.
The air conditioners are so small and insignificant that I would not bother to remove them.

26 Mar 22 Comment Tony, I cropped your image to get rid of the pole, then cropped some off the bottom and a little off the top to balance out the composition. I then flipped the image horizontally to place your subject on the right side of the frame so that the hanging clothes act as a lead in.

Finally I darkened the bright clothing behind her head and lightened her face slightly. What do you think of these suggestions?

26 Mar 22 Comment I do not agree with the previous comments about the right side of the composition. I see the main interest being the sunflower field. The tractor gives another dimension to the composition, but is secondary. As such, I don't mind that the tire touches the edge of the frame. You could even crop into the tire slightly.
The sky does not bother me as much, but a slight de saturation might be an improvement.

69 Mar 22 Comment Great shot of the gannet in flight.
I might eliminate the sky to keep the background color more even.

69 Mar 22 Comment Well captured and well cropped. I would suggest you open the shadows a little more to show more detail in the face.
The background is a little distracting but can't be helped if you intend entering in nature. Perhaps burning in a little more will help.

69 Mar 22 Comment Black and white images are all about the tones. This one is overall too gray, with no clear blacks or whites. So I agree with the other comments that the color version would be preferable.
Why don't you crop the color version, eliminate the extra bud on the lower right and resubmit it. I am sure the comments will be more favorable.

69 Mar 22 Comment Candy, you have captured this little guy to show how cute they can be. The circles in the water add to the composition.

I probably would have eliminated the reeds reflected in the top left as I don't think they provide an adequate lead in line.

69 Mar 22 Comment I agree with previous comments about the light and contrast.
Your new crop does not work for me as I think a horizontal format works better. Your new crop is too square for this situation. So somewhere between the 2 would work better.

69 Mar 22 Comment Interesting that we have 4 flying birds this month. Its not easy to get both in focus as you have here so I commend you for that. And their interaction is great.

I would suggest opening the shadows on the upper bird to show some detail in its face. I think your crop is ideal for this picture.

69 Mar 22 Reply I probably spent about half hour watching the herons and woodstorks as they were building their nests. Most fly one at a time, so I was quite lucky to get these 2 together. Mar 8th
