This is such an unusual image which works so well. The color palette is great as is the dreamy effect created in the background.
I would suggest a slight crop from the right to improve the composition. |

Jose, you sure have an eye for pattern and symmetry. This one is another winner.
The golden colors are quite rich with the blue inlay providing some contrast.
I would probably also crop the extreme borders left and right. |

Interesting comment about the sky, because I tried to enhance the sunset colors even further. |

The concentration shown on his face is fantastic! I would hope that my mechanics are this engaged when they work on my car!
I think Bob's crop from the top does eliminate some of the distractions created by that green box. However I prefer the tones and evenness of the light in your original. |

I find the sky too overwhelming. It draws all my attention away from the Badlands, with its beautiful textures and shapes. I agree that the original is a little dull, so some added sky is needed. |

This is a big improvement as we are now focused on the action. |

Lighting at midday is always difficult unless completely overcast. You have done reasonably well here to eliminate the distracting background and concentrate on the flower. |

In South Africa we have Jacanas or Lily Trotters which I'm guessing is the same family. I would crop some off the bottom which is out of focus and the left to get rid of that bright bud on the edge of the frame. |

It is unfortunate that everything is the same color, but that's probably what makes the cormorant such an efficient fisherman.
I would crop the left despite losing the tail as that bud is quite distracting. Then we are more focused on the action. I would also open up the shadows especially on the fish to give us a little more contrast. |

The diagonal composition is great. I like the crop that you have presented to us here. Well done on all the improvements from the original. |

Its a pleasing shot with the reflections. But I agree with previous comments that there are too many distractions to make this into a competition winner. |

Both pictures are wonderful but I think I prefer the single bird landing. Removing the lower duck is a big improvement.
White birds are always a problem with exposure unless photographed very early in the morning - in the golden hour. |
