Here is my new version cropped as suggested from the top. I feel it loses some of the drama. What do you think? |

Yes, you have captured a moment and portray his despair - What is life all about? What's left for me?
So I do find it of journalistic interest but perhaps not fine art. |

Your composition and presentation is so unusual. Most of us would have turned away in frustration. Well done on thinking out of the box.
The sky is so dramatic that it adds to the story. On my monitor the foreground is quite dark, so I would suggest opening up those shadows slightly. I also agree with cloning out the bright cloud lower right.

Yes. I do agree that the original is more story telling. But the way you have cropped the close up is far more engaging as shown with the contact between model and photographer.
Colors are great and the background does not interfere in any way. |

Christine, welcome to our group. I can already see that I am going to enjoy your images.
While I do agree with the others about too much sky (easily fixed) I do like the foreground with its lead in around the rocks and up to their faces. It helps to establish a sense of place for us and I'm sure adds to their memory of the occasion. |

This is a great nature shot. It has action to introduce interest, the background is unobtrusive, and the little bit of reflection in the water showing us just the eye is wonderful.
Well done. |

Bob, I find this image particularly creative. The rim light on the edge of both faces, with the hair around the horses mouth beautifully highlighted, and the rope so perfectly illuminated.
The noise does not bother me as I would expect some noise at this ISO.
How did you hide the source of the flashlight? |

The eagle is super sharp. The background is suitably blurred, but the color palette helps to enhance the colors of the feathers. Much better than a blue sky! |

Brenda, I agree that this is your best bird in flight so far, and I look forward to seeing many more winners. The angle of the bird, its sharpness and clear background makes this appealing to me. |

Jacob, your work continues to improve every month. I think this is your best picture yet.
I like the crop and the black and white conversion. My only suggestion is to add a little brightness. |

Great capture of this woodpecker. The colors are magnificent. I would crop more from the top to just above the notch in the tree. |

Well done on removing the distracting twig from the wing.
You seem to have attempted to blur the background - I would prefer a lot more blur to make it less messy.
I would also crop a lot closer particularly to get rid of that grass in the upper right corner. Remember to always check your edges! |
