Jose, you have an excellent eye for patterns and abstract. This simple shot works well on both fronts, and I would not change anything. |

I have no idea how you did this but the results are great. The macro lens is obviously very sharp to achieve this result. Not much you can do about the out of focus area due to the limited depth of field with any macro lens. Perhaps darkening that portion will help, as the lower half is far more interesting anyway. |

There's nothing like a bright red African sunset and I am so sorry that you were not able to witness one.
I agree with the comments about the tree touching the left of the frame, but your 2nd post has corrected that. Your composition is now spot on and the colors are much improved. |

I like your latest version, and I think it still works in black and white. |

This is a great capture - nice and clean. As they say it follows the KISS principle "keep it simple, stupid"
I don't mind the stem coming from the bottom, as the petals are on a diagonal giving the appearance of the composition going from lower left to upper right. The background is good, but I would darken the bright spot above the right petal. |

Hi Geof, I presume this is an Anhinga. In South Africa it is called African Darter. Does it have a different name in Aus?
Your file size at 600dpi is very large and therefore difficult to enlarge on the screen. I have reduced this copy to 72dpi and 1026 pixels across.
The bird itself is beautiful, sharp and I like the fact it is skimming just above the water. Of course the splash behind is an added bonus. |

Brenda, your black and white conversion works really well here. My suggestions are:
Rotate more to the left so that the branch with the main flower is not as straight and appears to come from the lower left corner.
Remove the leaves in bottom right corner and then crop considerably to make the image less busy. May also crop out the flower in top left corner, but maybe you need it for balance. I'm not sure how it would look. |

Jacob, your flower photography has improved each month. And I can see that you have learnt from the comments in this group.
The cloudy day has prevented extraneous highlights on the flower and the vignette frames the flower nicely. I love the color palette with the pinks and greens complimenting each other. |

Candy, once again your treatment has improved this image and taken it to another level. The action is great, sharpness and feather texture are perfect and removing the stick leaves us with a clean, crisp image. |

Wow. What an amazing catch. I would never have noticed the spider if you had not mentioned it.The composition is great and the blue flower forma a nice "umbrella" around the bee. The yellow stamens do draw my eye away from the main subject, but I do believe that it strengthens the composition.
The dark black area in the bottom left corner is disturbing me - it looks like a vignette gone wrong! |
