This is not a nature group so anything is allowed. The out of focus foliage doesn't bother me, but agree it would be better without it. |

Nice action here with the head raised and left foot up. I find your crop too tight and would prefer to see a little more of the environment, especially above and in front of the Elk. |

Thanks for your good wishes and Happy Holidays to you too. Having visited Amsterdam recently, I can appreciate the Van Gogh effect, which creates a whimsical look to the petals. Color harmony is excellent. |

The colors just pop here and I love the wide angle presentation. I would not change a thing! |

Belinda, this is a well seen and well presented image. I know I would have walked right past without taking a picture! The drops are beautifully shown and looks like you placed each one on the leaf. Well done. |

I think this picture lacks saturation particularly the yellows and browns on the ground. I've traveled north many times to photograph fall colors, but it is so difficult to time it just right. I find your composition pleasing. |

This is a very pleasing scene and reminds me why I enjoy living in Florida! But I am enjoying the color palette here with the strong red barn, some blue in the sky and that wonderful tree and branches of snow. The wagon provides good balance to the barn. I agree about the shadow lower right. |

I have rotated to the left as you suggest, and agree that it is an improvement. |

I think you have captured this very well and I don't mind the fact that the lower butterflies are partially hidden by the flower. Everything is perfectly sharp in the foreground, while the out of focus flowers show the environment in which they feed. The parallel diagonal lines of the lower butterflies and right wing of the upper one is superb. Well done! |

Geoff, Welcome to our group. We look forward to seeing seeing what Australia can offer on the wildlife front!
The eagle is tack sharp from beak to talons and stands out perfectly from the out of focus background. I personally would prefer to see the entire bird. As a portrait, I would crop out most of the wing, which would place the head and eye in the upper third of the frame, and concentrate our attention on the head, eye and talons.
What shutter speed did you use and did you pan this shot? |

Here's what I do.
1) select clone tool. 2) reduce size to 2-5 pixels In this case I used 2 pixels.
3)Opacity 50-80% Here I used 50 %
Pick a white spot anywhere in the background and clone in to the top right corner of the eye. Never in the dead center.
In the old slide days, we used a pin to create a small hole in the emulsion to allow the light through. The method above is much easier. |

Looks like your trip to DDD was really successful judging by the quality of pictures that you have presented. This one is another winner and I love your close up portrait presentation. The catch lights in the eyes show that he is alert and ready for action. The foliage doesn't bother me at all. |

Lucky to find the night heron so active at this time of day. and the lighting is beautiful on him. I would add an artificial highlight in the eye to make it more alive.
We have loads of these herons in our wetlands at the moment, but they are usually asleep with their eyes closed, or deeper under the trees. |

Candy, this is a very artistic presentation. The vertical lines of the frond works well and is nicely broken by the horizontal threads. The shadows from the brush add interest. |

Great action shot with the wings out. I agree to lighten the eyes slightly - you can even add an artificial highlight into the right eye. I would have cropped a little more off the right and bottom, but it is OK as it is to show its environment. |
