It also looks soft to me. These birds are so small that they are difficult to capture at the best of times. Photographing from a moving raft probably didn't help. I think Bob's version does give it more punch. |

What a pleasing and relaxing scene you have presented this month, Guy. I like what you have done to enhance the blue in the water and the reflection of the clouds therein. I find the sky quite bland and would prefer a little more punch in the blues to accentuate the clods even more. |

Jose, I admire your patience for waiting for the right moment to capture your subject in the perfect position in the frame. I like what you have included and don't need to see any more of the house. Your straight on angle from the height of the bridge certainly helps. On my recent trip to Tuscany I know that I missed many opportunities due to my impatience! |

I see this as a great geometrical image, with the staircase providing the strongest shape. I know that Bob likes everything perfectly straightened and aligned, but in this case I don't think that it matters. Your subject is the shapes and design, and is not meant to be a perfect recording of this particular building. |

The first thing that I notice with this picture is all the grass in the foreground which hides the base of the magnificent barn. I don't know how you could have captured this differently without losing the fence, which does act as a great lead in. Bob's crop does help. The bright background doesn't bother me as much as my eye stops at the red barn. You are sure lucky to have this scene near your home where you can keep getting great images. |

Bob, this is one of the most successful fireworks pictures that I have seen in a long time. The foreground with its reflections provides a perfect base for the fireworks, the buildings are nicely lit and your choice of firework bursts fill the sky without being overbearing. I also love the color palette that you present here. |

Here is the original. Yes, I did add blue to the windows in an attempt to make them less bright and less distracting. |

Rob, your Kiwi birds are all so gorgeous in their bright colors. Thank you for sharing this Kereru with us. Pity about the messy environment but not much you can do about that. Seems to me that you have amputated the feet - perhaps you cropped a little too tight? |

Candy, I think this last version works best. It is now a superb picture! |

Brenda, your cropped version makes this tiger a winner. There are no more zoo elements visible and this could just have easily been shot in the wild. The tiger is perfectly sharp, the eyes are looking at us and the reflection completes the story. We have a pair of tigers in our local zoo but they are difficulty to capture due to the fencing and surrounding trees. |

Donna, I know that you don't like to crop your images. My suggestion here eliminates the distracting out-of-focus branch ans some of the left side. My eye is now firmly focused on the frog which is quite magnificent, and shown off so perfectly against that lovely background. |

I love the silky effect that you have achieved in the water. And thanks for the explanation of the sponge tool which I did not know.On my monitor, your second image does not appear any lighter than the first, so I would prefer to see the left side lightened even more. The right side of the falls and the rock in the water are perfectly lit. |

The heron is in a great position in your frame, and the open beak adds to the drama of the action. I would try to darken the background slightly, and open the shadows in the body of the bird. However I do like the way that the light has caught the back of the neck, the left wing and the feet. |

I am more of a purist when it come to bird photography so must agree with the other comments about the backside if the birds. Also I need to see the head of the front gull, and the lower gull is lost in the waves. Pity really, because the wave are beautifully lit. Perhaps this would do better as a scenic picture without the birds! However I do compliment you on the sharpness of the bird in flight. This technique takes a lot of practice, so keep trying. |
