The colors in the sky are magnificent and make this picture a winner. I agree with suggestions of a slight crop from the top. |

Beautiful color palette, and the background is nicely muted with no distractions. I would only darken the stem at the top right. |

I like the simplicity of this image, with the strong colors, diagonal lines and circles in the rail. Well seen, Jose. I'm pleased that you did not try to show us a picture from that awful straw market! |

You have captured the gloominess of the scene, the bare trees and the missing bricks. I find the image somewhat flat - perhaps it needs more contrast and darken the top of the gatepost more so that it stands out from the background. |

I think you did pretty well with what you had to work with. Now if you had knee length snow boots, you could have taken a different perspective with the canons leading our eye to the gravestones!! The black and white conversion is well done especially as you show off the trees in the background. I love the ice coming off the barrel of the front canon. |

The painterly effect works great on this image. The red car and red pumps stand out beautifully against the blue sky. And I like the fact that you added back the sharpness in the name and license plate. You have also simplified the image by getting rid of the many distractions. |

Brenda, I think your comments here are spot on - experiment with new ideas, listen to the critique, but ultimately the final choice is yours! |

Donna, I commend you for getting down to the birds eye level for this shot. It really makes it more intimate and draws us in. However, I also find the out of focus foreground too much. I took the liberty of cloning down some of the sharper foreground in front of the bird and then cropping out most of the out of focus stuff. |

I agree with previous comments about the crop and would prefer more space on the right than the left. Also tone down the white band on the branch just behind the bird. You can use the burn tool in Photoshop, or paint with about 7% gray. |

I love the color palette that you have chosen here with the texture screen, Brenda. I agree with Donna that you don't need all the negative space, and I would crop considerably from the left and some off the bottom. |

Candy, once again you have taken a mundane picture of an ibis and turned it into an artistic rendition. The texture really makes it stand out from the background. And I love the angle of that tree stump that it stands on. |

Your second version is definitely better. The best thing about swans are their tail feathers, which stand out beautifully from this angle. The fact that the head is turned towards us really helps the image. |

Dean, this is a great image for black and white and you have converted it perfectly. I love the lines of clouds in the sky which is so beautifully reflected in the water. Your composition works well, with the tall trees on the right balanced by the row of trees in the left center. I would crop the trees extending in on the left of the frame. I don't believe that you need them for a stop in that part of the image. |

Here is another version with sharpening added to the grasshopper as suggested. I used Nik output sharpener on the grasshopper only. |
