58 May 22 Comment Bill, thanks for providing both images. I like the composition of the image with strong architectural triangles, verticals and horizontals. Since you asked for feedback- I feel that the darker image offers little or no detail in the upper third of the image. By opening up the background darkness, the viewer would see another layer of background of trees, and buildings thus adding depth or three dimensionality to an otherwise 2 dimension flat photograph. We now have a foreground, middle ground and background. That said the lighter image in my opinion is too much exposed with a purple color cast in the sky. A meeting of the middle of both photos is a good compromise, isn't it always?? May 18th
58 May 22 Comment Bruce, the "uniform" of the kids' clothing serves as a unifying element of the group; all the more so that the only girl is slightly different by wearing a touch of pink. All eyes are focused on the activity of the hands which also engages the viewer. Fairly clean background of green and provides a sense of the environment. I also like your crop which excludes the feet. Nicely done! May 18th
58 May 22 Comment Les, wonderful color palette of red, blues and yellow-browns. Your camera position at an angle, and with you low down add a nice diagonal and depth to your image. It brings his face at eye level and engages the viewer to focus on his face. I like the character of the man that comes through in his squinty eyes, dirty boots and walking stick. The folds of his clothing and scarf add curves and contrast with the strong verticals of the image. I also like the cast shadows at his feet which are a bonus. May 18th
58 May 22 Comment Isaac, I also like the original version as presented; which shows the activity of the street and adds a layer of motion of the other shoppers. The yellow color of the girls' tops are echoed in the bread of the bakery which surround the subjects. The clean blue background behind the girls serves as a clean backdrop and provides negative space for the eye to rest as well as a focus point of the story. The father's gaze on the twins add to story to separate them from the rest of scene. Well done Post processing!!
