Les… your title for the image says it all. The eyes and hands of the couple are particularly interesting and makes for a nice captured moment. |

Dan…Your camera's unusual point of view (you bellied down) is what makes this image special. I really like the hand coming from "nowhere" and used to lead the eye down to the man's face. The inclusion of the two hands on either side of the image adds tension. Great capture.

Isaac… my comments are based on the "right" image where the fisherman's face is not obstructed by the rod. Very strong and balanced composition with clearly defined subject/s. Good separation of the other elements and bodies in the background. Nice lighting to the rear buildings to indicate early morning. The "fish" on the string makes the story alive as do the rapport between the two men. Your post processing is spot on. I can't help but compare the "right" and the "wrong" submissions- I would include the man with the blue backpack in the extreme right because the color ties to the blue of the fishermen clothing. The man also provides a secondary story for the group of people.
The idea of flipping the image has been discussed. To me this adds more post processing which entails keeping any "text" (e.g. the man in the green T shirt) to read correctly. The image is strong "as is" and you caught the moment.

Daniel, interesting composition with lots of diagonal lines leading lines which add interest to the image. I like the placement of the horizon on the thirds, and using three couples that provides layers of depth to the image. To me, the man on the closest bench to us and facing the viewer is the primary subject of the image although the other couples play supporting roles. He engages me in the story. The triangles formed by the touching elbows provide a sense of intimacy. That said, my suggestion would be to exclude the tree trunk entirely because it doesn't add to the story. Agree that the "hose" is distracting, but the "box" doesn't bother me because I consider it part of the "street". |
