Daniel.. great use of perspective and diminishing scale. Post processing is spot on with true verticals. The geometric tiled floor adds interest to the bottom on the image as well as the saffron yellow which carries the eye to the top of the frame. As humans we relate to the man in the pathway and can imagine ourselves in his place. Perhaps a lil crop to the base edge of the left pillar to provide a cleaner edge to the bottom of the image. Good capture. |

Marius, interesting history of this Romanian city. You caught this image at a transition time between dusk and nightfall which provides a nice contrast between the natural darks on the left and the illuminated man-made lights on the right. These two parts of the image are linked by the drain which forms a diagonal leading line which also connect the human figures on the street. There is a nice interplay between shadows and lights which enhances the architecture of the image. I am thinking that you may have used an f/stop of f/16 or so which gives the starburst on the lights. Congratulations of your placement - well deserved!! |

Bruce …good capture and pose of the subject in 3/4 view. I think you caught the character of the woman as she looks like a fun-loving person. Nice and well-balanced composition showing the woman in her environment with donuts in her hands and the black backdrop. Probably would have cropped out the tip jar and electrical outlet on the left as they detract from the image. Good job! |

Hassan, in addition to the geometric features of rectangles, semi-circles in the sidewalk paving, this image has wonderful and interesting textures throughout the entire frame. Compositionally the three men form a triangle and connects the image horizontally; the sharp sunlight/shadow bisects the frame forming two triangles and connects the image vertically. You may like to try a B&W version for a different feel. |

Isaac…Life on the water must be interesting. The boat itself looks like it has been cobbled together from bit and pieces. Good post processing to keep the center of interest uncluttered. Nice leading lines and diagonals provided by the oars and the diagonal angle of the boat itself. I like the framing of the semi-circle pipe supports that keeps your eyes on the subject and the red, green, blue color palette. The subject is all the more interesting because the man is camera aware and is engaged with the viewer. |

Thanks for your input Isaac. As I recall, my original intention was to take the architecture- door etc but the street was very crowded and I knew that to obtain a clean shot I would have to aim high. In part, as the procession passed by, I saw the opportunity to include a human element which would add some interest to the image. The hand is blurred because of motion. I checked to see whether this shot was a "burst" but it appears to be a single shot. I guess that I just got lucky. |
