58 Aug 20 Reply oops! Yes of course. my bad. Aug 14th
58 Aug 20 Comment Daniel- good idea to remove the color and convert to B&W. I like the square format you originally presented, but perhaps darken the bottom edge of the frame beneath the floor shadow. This image is a nice study in shapes (three circles) and squares (the railing, the walls and the frame itself). There is the contrast of the filigree of the rail and the spokes of the bike. The text "Strong" on the solid satellite dish adds interest and the detail of the cord at the edge of the railing breaks up the solid shape of the round shadow. Nice capture Daniel. Aug 13th
58 Aug 20 Comment Hi Bruce… Interesting back and forth thread between Isaac and you. Although the man's knee is a bit tight to the left edge I think I would have fixed it by expanding the crop and simply using "content aware fill" tool. Photoshop is simply amazing. I like the image as originally presented - it includes both hands and a tool cradling the rock. I also like the post processing where you lightened his face and would extend this to also include his hands - in effect using a vignette to darken the corners and bring the center of focus to his face and hands. Nice red and green complementary colors. I may desaturate the neon green a little. All in all- an interesting subject with a background that is uncluttered and contributes to the story. Aug 13th
58 Aug 20 Comment Randy… Good idea to convert to B&W. Nice camera position - perhaps from an overpass overhead. The image is almost a triptych with the two main light posts creating three vertical sections. What a mass of humanity with layers and layers of people. Definitely no social distancing taking place. Although there is no clearly defined subject, the emotional impact is one of claustrophobia. You didn't mention what year this was taken - but judging from the lack of cell phones and the clothing - I would guess perhaps the early eighties? Aug 13th
58 Aug 20 Comment Hassan, Interesting night shot and challenging to obtain considering the lighting conditions. Although I love color, I tend to agree with Isaac's crop because the refrigerator is competing with the main subject. The almost empty restaurant adds to the atmosphere and the yellow staircase adds depth to the image. The camera position and perspective seems a bit odd to me as the subject appears to be almost floating - I would be interested to know if you tilted the camera slightly to get the image, if you can remember. 58 Aug 20 Comment Isaac..I like the composition on this woman and her dog placed on the thirds. The expression on her face with her downward look draws attention to the colorful dog at her feet. The monotone background and walls provides the environment of her home. Good inclusion of the vertical barred window which repeats in her striped dress. Lots of interesting textures as well. Well done! A flipped version is suggested as an alternative. Aug 13th
