Daniel…an interesting street market image. The grains and other items sold are different from what we encounter in the western world. I like the corner shot, with bins at right angles to the entrance- this gives a sense of smallness of the booth and gives depth to the image. Encountering the human face behind the jars is unexpected and adds to the story. Good eye! |

Isaac..a truckload of sailors, showing off their muscles. These types of street celebrations can easily dissolve into messy images which you clearly managed to constrain. There is a clear separation of foreground / middle ground / and background. The men form an organized cohesive unit- dressed in white, with caps and a beverage of choice. There are two items which provide tension to your image - the woman in the background (different from the others) and placed on the thirds; and the hand reaching from below the railing. Nice clean crop and sharp throughout. |

Jim, this purple lady looks like she's having fun. The artwork on her nails is what draws my attention, ing around the cigar. I like her skin tones and the eyes looking to the side; and placed on the thirds. Nice blurred background that does not distract from the central figure. My only suggestion is perhaps a slight crop from the right, to remove some of the dead space. Good image. |

Bruce, welcome to the group and I look forward to your images. As compared to the original submission, I prefer the edited version; attention is immediately drawn to the man who is clearly the subject and in his environment. This is a nice three quarter pose with both hands in place on the handlebars. His face is nice and sharp and background is sufficiently blurred (through the use of wide aperture at f1/8; shutter speed not indicated?). His patient expression and eyes are what makes this image so interesting. My only edit is perhaps to selectively desaturate the reds which seem to compete with the green of his jacket. Nice job! |

Randy, Our world as we knew it. I like your treatment of this image with somber B&W leading to blue skies ahead; and emphasized with a vertical crop. The empty table, textured with reflections gives the eye a resting place and contrasts with the rest of the image. I agree with Isaac's edits to crop in to remove the edge distraction of the tree to the left. Also cropping from the top improves the overall aspect ratio of the image. PS I also own the Sony A6000- a great walking around camera. |

Hassan, an unusual perspective makes this image interesting. Trying to get the right exposure can be difficult in churches with competing light sources. Your composition is well balanced - comprising of a foreground, middle ground and background which are well defined and keeps the eye moving from the bottom to the top of the image. Although the cross and central figures are soft, I believe that it would have been very difficult to have it sharp due to the fact that they are carved in marble(?) stone. The natural vignetting also adds to your image. BTW does anyone know how one would keep the image sharp throughout? Would using a wide-angle lens help in this situation? |
