Marcus, I like the conversion to black & white which brings out the geometry of the image. The three wheel axes form a triangle which is accentuated by the spokes of the wheels and the circular frames takes the eye around the image. Even the wire mesh in the background add texture and provides another level of interest and depth! Well done! |

Very painterly with beautiful, vibrant colors set against a grey background. I like the group of three and eyes are only seen on one of the dancers. Nice job! |

Mark.. eyes are placed on the thirds and the subject is sharp and eye contact is with the camera. I also like the black background and the side lighting of the model. As mentioned there appears to be a slight blue color cast which may have impacted the color of his eyes. |

Alaistair, the square crop suits the symmetrical composition of the image. Minimalism and a limited color scheme works well to enhance the simplicity! I particularly like the lone leaf sitting dead center of the frame as a point of interest. Wonderful capture. |

Amparo.. the setting and the background works well together. The subject is tack sharp including her eyes. Flipping the image makes for a more interesting composition although I would have liked to see her other arm. Well done! |

Hi Helen.. interesting discussion on your take of Magritte's work. There were several suggestions for improvement of the pumpkin and it's placement but none mentioned that the perspective and angle of the pumpkin is far different from the front view of the man. Perhaps choosing a different pumpkin image is the simplest answer. Compare with Magritte's image and you'll see what I mean. |

Daniel .. nicely framed portrait of a fisherman. I like your conversion to B&W. The textures of the tattoos and the water drops all add to make this an interesting image. Very nice and balanced composition with offsetting triangles framing the subject. |

Jim.. I like the monochromatic browns of this image. I think the boy and his stooping position adds another interesting third element to the image. His half body and eye brings a tension to the photo. The bottom exclusion of the man's shoes doesn't bother me. Good shot! |

Dan.. I like the low camera position and conversion to B&W. I don't even mind the sandals as they provide a leading line, something of interest and forms part of a "beach" scene. The cloudless sky gives the eye a resting place and contrasts to the busy lower half of the image. Perhaps removing the object on top of her nose and adding a dark vignette to close the corners and focus on the subject would be my suggestions. |

Deborah..I love the light on his face and red nose. Up high camera position gives us an unusual view and composition. You caught the juggler at the right moment with three balls all distinct! The street pavement provide leading lines to the colorful figure. Good shot! |

Hassan, your image sets the scene for the viewer sitting in and looking out. I like the touches of red that moves the eye around the image and don't mind the checkered tablecloth that ties to make the image work. I believe the person on the far left could have been cropped out without any loss to the scene. |

Isaac… camera position gives us a front row seat to the action - low to the ground and eye level to the game center of focus. Image is tack sharp with separation of background using a wide aperture. The colorful garments stand out and contrasts against the bleak environment. A panoramic crop works and moves the viewer around the faces and then settles to the game pieces placed on the thirds. Negative space and a leading line is formed by the roadway to the back of the image. A wonderful image all round! |

Isaac…your comment about the crop had me thinking that perhaps my original image (attached) gave me no room for the feet, but as you can see I had enough. Appreciate your comment. I purposefully cropped to a "standard" 5x7 vertical and very rarely use "odd" crops as they can sometimes make the image feel a bit off and to me add an awkward element. |
