Daniel.. I like both the color and Dan's B&W version. The skewed perspective makes this an interesting image. The chair to me denotes the presence of human activity and the invitation to sit. Good eye! |

Thanks for your comments Dan. I don't believe that a longer lens would have been able to help in this case as there was no clear focus group. What I found interesting were the layers of people, from different families - organized but chaotic at the same time! |

Isaac.. I was mistaken about the day and we were there on a Thursday (not Wednesday). It was a crowded event and I had to stand on a chair on the sidelines, along with the other women, to see what was going on. Agree with your crop and pp! |

Jim, nice composition and color harmony. The eyes are nice and sharp. Might also work well as a B&W alternative. |

Dan...you captured a group of young children on a school outing and crossing the street in single file. I agree with Isaac's pp. I like that the kids are in stride and the triangulation indicated by their legs and feet (and the swing to their arms). The time of day makes the lighting harsh and your conversion to B&W is a good choice. There are a wide range of greys and tonal variations including the textures of the buildings and street which add interest to your image. |

Glad you joined the group Hassan..and look forward to seeing your images. Overall I agree with Isaac's comments and pp including the crop. To me the most interesting character is the man on the train - the diagonals on the train take you to the center of the image and back again to the man. The "Instanbul" signage on the train identifies the place and this is reinforced by the woman with the head scarf. Good capture! |

Isaac...thanks for the information behind the story. You captured a special moment in the young man's life and a rite of passage. Technically sharp and well balanced composition. The extra shadows included on the ground add additional texture and indicate the presence of more people witnessing the event. Very interesting overall image including the angle of capture! |

Thanks for your comments Elinor. I am glad I was able to salvage a poor photograph - so many times we hit the delete button too quickly. |

Trial and error Tom. I wish I had a workflow recipe to follow to cut down on the time:) |

Thought I would share that this past summer I took some very real watercolor classes from an artist in Ontario. I learned some applications and my approach going forward to reproduce these techniques digitally would be challenging to say the least. |

Elinor - very nice rendition and far more interesting and colorful that the original. I like that you subtracted the hair on her right side making for a much cleaner painting. The replacement background adds to the composition. To me the neck area seems far less interesting probably because of the linear lines and lack of texture in this area which makes it prominent. |

Gerhard you are a wonderful nature photographer and painter. Very nice composition with the group of three - and their eyes engaged with the viewer. The painting bears your signature style and fluidity of movement and swirls. I also like the touch of blue (a complement color) which brings attention to the water line and lead to the faces. |

Tom..agree with the others on the eyes. I love the limited color palette and the skin tones are rendered beautifully. I see a few areas of sharp edges which can be a distraction because of the high contrast where perhaps you wouldn't want them. I may have cropped in a bit tighter on the left to exclude the arm area - but up to you of course - the artist! |

Love what you created for the background - do I detect a bubble brush, Angela? So often the background either makes/breaks the success of a painting and in this case it is in perfect harmony with the dog. You were able to capture the expression and the dog's soulful character. Lovely detail on the nose and whiskers. |
