Aha! Marcus ... when you mentioned Islington-I remembered being at a park there (2014) and also taking pictures of the Toronto skyline. The difficulty - my lens reach, the haze and the pollution in the air and trying to get a good composition. I searched my files and here is the result of my effort back then - almost similar POV as compared to yours. |

Marcus.. Undoubtedly this is a difficult capture and at 5:30 am shows that you researched the time of sunrise and the location. Were there other avid photographers there too? I lived in Toronto for many years and perhaps you can tell me the location - looks like somewhere on the west end, possibly at the CNE.I like the silhouette of the skyline against the sky and the slight hint of fog and the water line in the foreground. Composition is well balanced with a foreground, midground and background sky. With such difficult lighting conditions- I would think even a bracketed shot would not be able capture the range - almost akin to shooting fireworks. |

Snehendu -again a very creative approach to your image. The colors are very striking and I like the painterly feel to the image; so very different from the original. |

Mark.. patriotic Canadians came out to celebrate 150 this year! The caption on the steps and the maple leaf are all very Canadian. The people on the steps add a human touch and I like the red border around your image. |

Your image is a stark reminder that history has not always been kind to women. We have certainly come a long way. A creative idea to add the passage in context of the image and I like the postage stamp border. |

Ed... perhaps you can share with the group - what is your lens choice when shooting "street"? |

Dan ... to me the "flip" and the "original" works either way. In your original the girl is facing you which I prefer, while in the "flip" I feel that her back is towards you. The space is fine as presented. The focus is first on the eyes, which you caught. |

Isaac, here's the original! The walls were really that acid green color, and totally distracting. |

Daniel, this brings a smile as the pig is causing quite a commotion. I agree with Isaac's rendition of darkening the image to focus more attention on the subject. The hidden faces add to the story line - and you wonder what the missus would have to say about his purchase. |

Dan- a nice shot of summer fun. I like the composition and the B&W treatment. You even caught a catchlight in her eyes. Well done! |

Ed.. I like the man's gesture and his outstretched hand in the air. This works as a B&W and attention is focused on the man. I like Issac's tweaks to the image. Nice capture! |

Liz- Street furniture tells a story of the former owners.. Don't you think? I like the textures of your image- the picket fence, and the architectural details of the house in the background. I like the framing of the subject by the tree on the left and the furniture left on the sidewalk stage and slightly off-center. Your image certainly shows a sign of human activity and a common sight in our throw-away world. |

In many parts of Europe, the bicycle is the preferred mode of transportation - no wonder they are so fit. I like the many geometric shapes in the image - the circles and triangles and lines make the image interesting. The man in the background add secondary interest and his legs are caught in mid-stride. The composition is well balanced with a fore ground, mid ground (man) and background (the interior shop). I am also starting to use my i-phone more frequently for street photography. Have you tried an app called Camera+ which has an amazing built-in stabilizer. |

Tom's suggestion of removing the green is a good one... Perhaps using the select "color range" in PS could be used to select the green from the rest of the tree. I have used this tool and it yields good results, and is quick and fairly accurate. |

I also like your treatment of the sky and the added pinks. You captured all the details of the image and the composition is good. As Gerhard mentioned-the painting is smaller than expected on my screen too. |

Gerhard.. I like the strong and vibrant colors and the use of the smudge to create your swirling background. Your gazanias are very beautiful.. I'll have to grow some in my garden. |

This certainly reminds me of fireworks. I like the contrast of the white against the dark background. Perhaps bringing back some of the details in the center would bring back a center of interest. |

I like the replacement sky and the composition of the strong flame tree. The lighting is very believable. Perhaps softening the hard edges of the tree trunk (as Gerhard mentioned) would help with the transition. This tree is a wonderful subject and I can see using it again in a landscape with mountains etc. Hope you saved the cut-out :) |
