8 Jun 17 Comment Nice image Marcus. You captured all the various textures of the scene- I like the idea of new growth among the old decaying truck, and I like the truck is tilted at an angle. The natural frame of the rear window into the depths of the forest adds another layer of interest. The blue of the back truck leads us to investigate the scene. I also found dealing with the dappled light a challenge at old Car City and hope you took lots of images. Well worth the visit. Jun 15th
8 Jun 17 Comment I like the painterly effect which gives the image a timeless quality. I also like the framing of the group created by the branches and the benches which creates leading lines to draw attention to the group. The small groups of people are also enjoying the spring day. Jun 15th

8 Jun 17 Comment This is quite clever and very creative. The silhouette idea and the rider makes the image interesting. Unlike Marcus, I am not a big fan of the double frame; which to me detracts from the image itself. Jun 15th
8 Jun 17 Comment Nice capture Alastair! Your patience paid off – I like the connection between the woman carrying the cup and the mural. The black color unifies the whole scene and anchors the image. Jun 15th
8 Jun 17 Comment These images work well together as a triptych and the monochrome help to unify the images as a group. I like the fluidity of the images which suggest movement. The hands gives us a clue that the images are human and the title is appropriate – I do get the feeling of being trapped and trying to escape. Jun 15th

Hmm... not a fan of the B&W version. Although there are several tones of greys, I don't believe there is range of true black or white in the image to provide sufficient contrast and make it interesting enough to convert to a monochrome. Posted: 06/28/2017 13:14:45

58 Jun 17 Comment Liz...one get the size of this enormous kite from the sense of scale provided by the tiny people. Lighting appears to be flat and even probably because of the clouds. I agree with Isaac to bring the subject kite a little off center...I would crop a little off the right side to exclude the black objects on the lawn which are distracting to me. What an interesting scene! Jun 16th
58 Jun 17 Comment Mofassirul.. this boy has an infectious grin that engages the viewer. I like the background bokeh created by a wide aperture and clearly separates the subject from the background. The subject is placed off center and makes for a more interesting composition. Low camera position gives me the impression that you are stooped or in the boat. I agree with Isaac’s post processing of the orange figure in the background. Nice job! Jun 16th
58 Jun 17 Comment Dan… your image is sharp throughout and the background environment is interesting – you get the sense that the trees are not yet in full leaf which allows you to see through to the rocks and hills beyond – this adds a layer of depth to the image. Nice composition with a group of three enjoying the scene. I would have liked to see a little more of the canyon and what the group was viewing but so often these captures are spontaneous. Jun 16th
58 Jun 17 Comment Isaac.. the image is sharp throughout and the you can clearly see the faces based on your high vantage point.. The three groups of people make for a balanced and interesting composition- and I like that the groups themselves are made up of 2, 3, and 4 people. The leading lines formed by the diagonals of both rails lead the viewer from group to group through the image. The water in the canal is a contrast to the harsh concrete structures and adds to the composition. You can tell from the lighting and shadows that the groups are enjoying a Spring day. To me the most interesting character is the man with the McDonalds bag on the right who is engaged in some sort of activity in an otherwise passive scene.Good eye! Jun 16th

62 Jun 17 Reply Thanks for your comment Elinor.. I guess I got carried away with the eraser brush at the end, and swiped off more than I expected. :) Jun 16th
62 Jun 17 Comment Elinor… you have a knack for painting flowers. I like the pinks in the azaleas against the dark leafy background. You were able to provide definition to each flower and the transition of the pink tones are nicely handled. Jun 16th
62 Jun 17 Comment Gerhard.. your image month is beautifully painted, especially the clouds and sky.. I like the suggestion of a foreground, middle ground and the building in the background. The touch of red adds to the subject and draws my eye. Nice job! Jun 16th
62 Jun 17 Comment Tom… the use of the sunset and the sunflower work well together in your painting. I like the deep rich colors and the dark background. My only observation is that from afar, your painting is rectangular and fills the frame, probably a holdover as a photographer where we want to fill the frame. To me the flower appears to be crowded. When I am faced with a similar situation, typically I would expand the canvas (see my submission for Dec 2016…) to provide for more negative space and breathing room. This is simply a suggestion but totally up to you as the artist. Jun 16th
62 Jun 17 Comment Angela..you have done a wonderful job with this painting. I like the composition and the fall colors. I also like the use of perspective to suggest depth to your painting. The brush work is very suggestive of watercolor. Well done! Jun 16th
