A busy scene with lots of choices in capture and in post processing. The main distraction for me is the taxi. Also, the building is still a bit underexposed but you are also dealing with the bright spots. It is a good documentary shot to remember this time and location. |

You did a fantastic job of capturing this image and then applying the post processing to make it outstanding. I never saw this in Versailles but wish I had. |

A beautiful moody shot with a nice abstract feel. I like it just the way you presented it. |

I am with Beverly on this one. You composed and cropped this into a great image. Although I think cropping a little off the top and bottom would still give you the great impact. |

A very nice capture John and I think black and white is the best choice. I agree that cropping in to feature the sky and viaduct would be helpful. Also, putting contrast into those wonderful clouds would increase the drama. The post is probably OK either in or out. |

A well done landscape with interesting textures, colors, and lines. Your technical explanation demonstrates your knowledge of the camera and the situation. I think the image would benefit by increasing the saturation, contrast, and texture of the main feature which is the weathered rocks. |

The parallel beaks feature is the main eye catcher in this shot and you did that very well. My personal preference would be to have both birds in focus which probably would require a setting of f/11 or smaller. That would have required a higher ISO since a shutter speed of 1/1000 to 1/500 in your situation is needed. |

The image has a nice abstract feeling and is well done. The halo is usually caused by over sharpening but is also affected by chromatic aberration which can be corrected in the "lens correction" panel of Lightroom. Another suggestion is to increase the exposure on the tree and possibly bring out some texture. That of course is subject to the intent of the artist. |

Very nice shot Gary, This is the type of shot showing interaction and behavior that does well in the PSA Nature competition. I think lightening the shadows and reducing the highlights would be helpful. |

Thank you all for the generous comments. Here is the setup: The photographer is positioned about 20 feet from the flower and the colored background screen. There are three flash heads positioned to light the bird, flowers and screen, The flashes are activated by the shutter through a remote transmitter on the hot shoe. The flash lights are doing all the work, so the camera settings are ISO200, f/10, 1/160 sec, 420mm. At setup there are some practice shots to get the manual power settings on each flash unit calibrated correctly. There are feeders located near the setup to keep the birds flying in and discovering the flower. The flower is picked locally. The photographer watches the action and trys to capture the perfect position of the bird and flower. Hundreds of images are taken in each session hoping to get a few winners. |
