I definitely like the square crop better. It tells an interesting story of two unique characters. The background in the original version is distracting. |

Aside from the artifacts, an excellent job of presenting a gorgeous flower. My only concern is the tightness of the crop at the top of the frame. |

An airplane image with an abstract feel. A very interesting combination. |

Good catch Sheldon. Of course if the sun is setting over the water, the location has to be on the Pacific side. I never really thought that through until you mentioned it. Regarding the shadows on the left side, I liked the silhouette affect, but a little lightening would also look good.
Thanks. |

Tage,
No need to apologize. There are many species of gull. Yours looks like a "common gull" but not certain. Just Google "gull species" if you are interested. |

Nice colors but the subject is not clear and nothing is really in focus. You need to be on a tripod and focus about 1/3 into the frame for best Depth Of Field results. Using back-button-focus insures that when you re-compose the focus will not change again. Also, cropping down to feature the little tree and the rock cliff behind might be helpful. Increasing contrast and color saturation could also be helpful. |

On my monitor, nothing appears to be in focus. Also, there is no definitive subject. I like the effect of layers and the foliage color against the blue water. Perhaps if you cropped down to feature the blind it would add interest. |

Most of my comments are iterations of those already made. The focus is sharp and the backlighting on the wing emphasizes the detail and color. I think the best suggestions are: (1) For all animal shots, shooting at eye level is the optimum position. (2) The golden rule for bird photography is to show sharp focus of the eyes. (3) The composition definitely needs some negative space in the direction the bird is facing. (4) The second gull in the background is distracting. (5) If you show this image to bird people, "seagull" is a layman term. You would need to identify the actual type of gull. |

I really like this composition without the log. If the log were not cropped so tightly, It might fit better into the story. The stray branches entering from the left are somewhat distracting, but overall this is very well-done. |

An excellent landscape. Not sure about the tourist, but perhaps this is two alternative captures one with and one without. With the beautiful and dramatic clouds, you might try this in Black and White, emphasizing the sky. That would also lessen the impact of the visitor. |
