A very well-done "macro" overcoming a lot of technical challenges, especially depth-of- field. The important parts of the image are in sharp focus. I like John's idea of a crop and square format. |

Good work on your "Creative Altered Reality" creation. The man and the car are too severely separated, especially with the bus stop metal work. A lot of nice elements here but the starbursts on the mirrors may be a bit overdone. |

Very nice capture of the animal with good detail in the fur and and eye. The foreground and background are too busy and too bright. |

Great action shot with a nice story. Lots of detail for such a slow shutter speed. I like the blurred background as suggested by Peter. Not sure I agree with darkening idea. |

Very nice bird portrait with a sharp eye. Maybe not composing with the bird centered would help the overall impact. I agree with the others that the front plumage needs to be more visible with some lightening of the shadows. |

Thanks for all of your comments. Leaf in or leaf out. I am going to leave it in. I did get an "Honorable Mention" in the 2019-2020 PSA Nature competition (Round 2). Maybe a first or second with the leaf out? |

This is a very pleasing image due in large part to your preparation, choice of equipment, and technical expertise. I think the brightness of the flowers is distracting. If you can recover the detail, they make a nice foreground, although I also like the version without the flowers. I agree with the comments by Bristow regarding focus and the small aperture. My experience with achieving the "silky" look the water is that a 2 to 3 second exposures is usually adequate. This would allow you to open up the aperture and possibly achieve better focus. |

A very nice landscape with a killer sky for drama. My preference would be to crop in from the left and bottom to get more emphasis on the sky. The reflection is nice, but blurry with the wave action and losing a bit of that would be helpful. |

I admire your enthusiasm for the subject and willingness to learn. The image is not in focus which is a large distraction. When shooting birds hand-held, it is extremely difficult to achieve satisfactory sharpness. You had enough shutter speed (the bird is not flying) so this leaves camera movement as the most likely culprit. Also, the crop , as suggested by Tage and Larry helps the composition. Lastly, with foliage in front of the bird the camera will most likely auto-focus there. |

This is an excellent animal capture with sharp detail in the fur and eye, including a small "catch-light." The natural diagonal line adds interest. The background near the head is distracting. You might try the Targeted Adjustment Brush in Lightroom to reduce the tonal values and make it less obvious. |

As an experienced bird photographer, I appreciate your work in getting this capture. Getting clearly focused eyes of both birds would have been ideal, but not to be on this shoot. As pointed out by others, the image lacks contrast and is a bit over-exposed. I like Larry's treatment with the crop and use of the gradient filter. Another tool that might be useful is De-Haze in Lightroom. Nothing to be done about the our-of-focus foreground rocks, but they are a distraction |

Thanks Larry. Your critique and suggestions were very helpful. I was so captivated by the face and eyes of this animal that cut-off toes did not even register in my mind. Attached is a properly cropped image. |
