I agree with your comments on the contrast. I tried several versions of this. I was a little surprised at the brightness of this image as shown here. This one took a lot of adjustments in Lightroom because the brighter elements were somewhat "blown out". In retrospect, I should have done this in HDR.

I like the colors and perspective. Perhaps this is really two different shots: the second would be with the man as the subject. |

A nice accomplishment technically: sharp focus, dramatic contrast, interesting subjects. The "contrived" aspect you mentioned does add a little distraction. |

I love the creativity, emotion and story-telling of this image. I agree with the others that a full silhouette would be better. Also, it looks a bit "grainy" and the halos are somewhat distracting. |

An outstanding image for this technique, especially hand-held. There was a workshop at the PSA conference in Salt Lake City to teach the methodology. Nothing I saw there looked this interesting and colorful. |

I like the simplicity and the use of monochrome. It is well-composed with just the right amount of sky. |
