Thanks everyone for the generous comments. This image made me smile for a long time after I was lucky enough to capture it. And it is luck. I just happened to be focusing on one of the birds when this happened. |

Nice reflections. The birds do look soft to me but I assume from your comment is has something to do with the resolution limit for our submissions. Hard to figure. I agree with Judith regarding the plant material behind the center bird but don't think it's a fatal issue, but it would be relatively easy to remove in PS. On my monitor, there is a purple color cast in the plant material behind the center bird and on the bird itself. Nothing wrong with that if you like it but I'm just pointing it out as I often miss color casts in my own images. I like the texture and look of the water. Before I read your comment that the image is sharp, I was going to suggest adding a blur motion effect to go with that feeling. Not sure how I wouild do it but it might be fun to play. |

What a beautiful scene that I didn't know existed here in Florida. I bet you have a lot of fun with that fisheye. For me, in this case, the fisheye effect is too subtle. I'd be tempted to do a bit of either horizon straitening, or the reverse, enhance the fisheye effect. I'm not sure if I would crop, but I would remove the dark bush and path on the right side, and the flowers on that side that are in the shade, to have some space on either side of the tall flowers. The blue on the sky is a bit distracting to me, almost the effect a polarizing lens might create. I think evening out the blue tones would be relatively easy in Photoshop by making a color selection and either filling with one tone of blue or with a linear gradient to keep the lighter tone near the horizon if that is what you like.
I also like the arrangement of the flowers and the crop and the yellow against blue is delicious.

Nice image of this wonderful subject. I prefer the color image and like your post processing. Possibly lightening up the mom's whiskers would help improve the separation between her and the pup? |

I think this image is terrific. I think B & W was brilliant here. I like the little splash around the beak, the eye and the "swishy" tail feathers. I agree with everyone's comments. It's unique and creative. |
