Ducks are hard to get close to when they are not aclimated to humans. Nice job getting into position for a takeoff. I doubt you had time to think about settings but I think a wide open aperture and faster shutter speed might have improved the image. 1/3200 for duck action is a bare minimum for me. Given the grassy setting wide open may have put the grass behind it more out of focus. I'd probably add a blur layer and apply it gently to the backgound and also do a subtle vignette to draw light to the duck. Nice work. |

Nice image. I like the wet look. I've photographed this species many years ago. It is a Burchell's coucal. Very pretty bird. I don't mind removing things and would remove all the little twigs sticking up from the bottom. But even with them there it's a wonderful image. I also agree that the original looks like a different image and has more room above the head. I'd consider using that one and cropping tighter as the blue sky doesn't add anything for me. |

Nice work. I would also either romove or tone down that one leaf protruding from the top center. I've seen this species only to tv. It must have been special to see it in person. |

I like the image, gulls and all. I like what Tom did and might even go a bit further to dodge a bit of light under the wings and tone down the white on the top of the head, if possible. Nice crop and it tells the complete story. |

Nice shot of my favorite egret. I like the pose. The tail feathers don't bother me a bit. I like how you have the subject standing out against a nice blue. I agree with Ally that a little bit more room on the left might be an improvement, but I'd have to see it to be sure. If this were mine, I might try to tone down the highlights on the neck feathers and bring out more of the color that I know is there. Great breeding plumage.

I love the image. It has immediate impact and is lovely. I think it would look fantastic on any wall. No suggestions, for me it's perfect.
PS, Great job in post. |
