Hi Pamela. Now that I'm looking at it I agree with you. Thanks |

I like your final selection. I see the attraction to the shape of the branch but the subject is the hawk, which your crop emphasizes. (I think is a Red-tail.) I would do a bit of dodging and burning, of which there are many techniques. I'd lighten up the left side of the head and the tail and tone down just a bit some of the highlight areas. Their appears to be a vignette which for this particular image, I would remove. My eye caught it and my taste is for a vignette to be either obvious or not noticeable and this one is between those extremes. Just my taste as it looks good as is. |

I again agree with Pamela's comments. I recognize the lighting challenges and think you did a great job with your approach. I am a bit distracted by how much you've brightened the side of the male and the sand in front of his head. To my eye, it looks processed. I might go another way with this image and darken most of it, leaving a bit more than a hint of the subjects and see if by darkening there would be a bit of rim light around the male. Not sure if that approach would work but it might be fun to experiment. Being a non-purist, I would also remove the piece of wood. |

"What she said!" :) I agree with Pamela and also looked the bird up and she nailed the ID. Great composition but agree that the image is slightly underexposed. |

Nice image. I'm not aware of Brilliance AI. Is that the name of a program or one filter inside another program? I like your handling of the tonality. I might want to see this as a more aggressive crop and zero in on the upper part and head of the heron with its prey. I think that might yield a more dynamic image. |

Wonderful image and post processing, particularly your handling of the highlights. I like this crop a lot. The shape of the splashes add a lot for me. I'm also curious as to your flipping but think, for whatever reason, it looks best the way you handled it. I often flip mine for the action to go from left to right primarily because I prefer my logo to go in the lower left and not be in front of movement. If this were mine, I'd leave it flipped and put my logo in the upper right. Bravo! |
