Thanks Polly good point. Now that you mention the bone-like thing it bothers me too. |

Thanks Sharon. I respect your views but my line has to do with misrepresentation. When I post, if I feel like I have added things that were not there, such as switching feet or eyes, I generally state that in the description. I won't for simple removal of branches, spider webs or birds that have the impertinence to get into the scene. There is definitely a continuum of thought regarding photo adjustment and manipulation. In this case, I couldn't or don't have the skill to have "fixed" this image without use of AI. I could have used the clone tool and borrowed extensively from different parts of the image for a lesser result, but the difference between that and using pixels not originally captured to me isn't a meaningful distinction, although I can see how it could be for others. |

My typing needs work. I said "cover to be the subject" which I think you properly interpreted as "color". The plugin for the filter I used is from Skylum Software called Luminar Neo. I don't use it often but probably because it is a large plug in with a lot to learn. It has a sky replacement feature as well as the ability to place a sun in a picture and adjust the sun temperature and rays that I like. I think they are in Ukraine, which also makes me feel favorably to them.
I have a tripod and head I use both for travel and locally which I love. The tripod is a FLM CP30-L4 II. B & H sells them and they offer several models. It is very strong and relatively light. The head I use is a Flex Shooter, medium size, although I think the smallest size would be sufficient for all but the heaviest of equipment. I paid extra to get the quick release plate as I am always taking my camera on and off the tripod as I prefer in most instances to hand hold. |

Creative, as usual. The image looked out of focus to me, possibly contributed to by the high ISO. I thought going overboard a bit might be fun. I cloned some of the feather to cover the brightest area and dodged the feather area to the right. I then ran a NEO filter I never used, trying for something overboard. I was trying to get the cover to be the subject more than the flower/feather. Not sure if I succeeded but the image is susceptible to all kinds of different approaches. |

Spooky indeed. I love it. I might want to see it cropped a bit wider, trying to preserve some of the curve in the fence which I find interesting. Not sure if that could be done or not and I love your approach. Just another alternative to consider. |

We get a lot of ibis where I live in South Florida. They are common both in the wetland areas as well as neighborhoods, where they pick bugs out of our lawns.
I didn't see the halo that Judith mentioned but I felt that the dark feathers were should be dodged a bit, to bring out more detail in that area. I also wanted to provide some separation between the bird and the lawn. I brightened up the bird with a mask, then reversed the mask and slightly reduced the luminosity of the background and its saturation. Finally, I made a crude silhouette just to give you the idea. I normally do that in PS where I have more control. |

Beautiful image and I think your post processing did it justice. I again agree with Judith's comments. Nice work! |

I echo Judith's comments and am intrigued by her suggestion to include more of the plants. I tried to do follow that suggestion in LR but couldn't produce an effect I liked. I think using AI in PS might do the trick. I think your final result is nice, but the trumpets seem to come out of nowhere, which makes me immediately think of a forced crop at work.
Given the adjustment in exposure to the subject, I suspected that there was more color that could be brought out in the feathers. Using adjustment brushes in LR I painted in some Highlights and White and just a touch of saturation. I also increased the highlights in the eye and darkened the rest of it. I also desaturated the background a bit. |
